Though I have an expansive bag collection, a classic black bag that becomes a wardrobe staple is always a must. You can wear it with anything and use it every season for years to come. I get a lot of emails from people starting their designer bag journey asking me what type of bag they should start with, and this Saint Laurent LouLou would be a great option. I got this LouLou from LuisaViaRoma a couple of years ago, which by the way is a wonderful retailer that I was able to visit on a trip with the brand to Florence, Italy. As for this bag, she is a beauty. While some don’t like the logo on the front of YSL bags, I’m a fan. The leather on this bag is extremely soft and thick, which shows really nicely on the “Y” quilted overstitching. The strap is leather at the top with chain at either side which can be doubled up on the shoulder or carried crossbody. The bag is just the right size, plenty large enough for daily essentials with a really nice interior organizational set up. There’s a center zip partition which splits the bag into two areas. This bag also works for a night out, as it’s not overly cumbersome and works with practically every outfit in your closet. What’s your go-to perfect black bag?
