Valentino bags are expensive. And they’re not regular-person expensive, either. Coach bags are the bags that normal people think are expensive; Valentino bags are the bags that normal people don’t even realize exist. Sometimes I wish I was one of those people who never got bit by the fashion bug, but sadly, I’m hooked and that won’t change. Not soon, not ever.

Luckily, Valentino’s diffusion line Red Valentino has started selling several handbags exclusively through Saks, and I think that we can all agree that the Red Valentino Sequin Bow Crossbody would make a pretty good alternative to one of Valentino’s regular four-figure options.

The design of this bag, and the big bow in particular, will be familiar to anyone who follows Valentino accessories, and I expected a similarly familiar price when I first laid eyes on the piece. I assumed that if the bags were going to bear that much of a resemblance at times, then toning down the price too much might send the wrong signals. Either my logic is wrong or the Valentino marketing people are totally undermining their accessories brand, but this bag is priced under $400. I’ll assume that I’m the party in error. Buy through Saks for $395.

The first three sentences of this post… so awesome. The fashion bug is not biting on this purse, it might be a good deal for Valentino but if I’m not mistaken its quite small and the color of the leather bits leave something to be desired.

Hmmm… not a fan. The bow is high-end, the sequins say Disco, the cross-body is very functional. So, no, this time the fashion bug is not biting.

Great price of a V bag… I a ma great fan of Valentino and it is worth every penny

It’s great that it is priced under $400, because not so many people who can afford expensive bags could possibly handle such a taste-specific combination as a huge bow paired with sequins. I’m trying hard to be diplomatic here…

Love the design, but please what are people doing still having sequined purses? That is so over isn’t it?

I would never admit that sequined purses are over ! LOL
As an evening bag freak there are many sequined numbers in my closet. Unless it is oversized and then rarely, I see this as an evening purse so what’s wrong with sparkling. The bow, the sequins are brilliant – it is not like you would use it everyday.

For some reason, I am just not liking this bag. I want to because I am a Valentino fan, but I just can’t wrap my heart around this one.

Ah Valentino, how you make my heart beat faster. Beautiful.
