Saint Laurent’s resort 22 collection was finally revealed yesterday, and it is as tantalizing as it is predictable, all tied up in a pretty little YSL package. Since his appointment at Saint Laurent, Anthony Vaccarello continues to put a focus on the rock-n-roll feel that was made famous by his predecessor’s time at Saint Laurent.
This collection is ever the reminder of modern-day Saint Laurent, giving us that party-girl vibe while breathing new life into the most fundamental wardrobe essentials, like denim and tailored trousers. The collection, at its core, is so quintessentially Saint Laurent that it doesn’t feel at all surprising but somehow feels fresh and fun, with hints of feathers, mesh, and colorful prints.
As for the bags, there weren’t very many, but what was presented feels again, very Saint Laurent. There was a continued focus on the micro bag, which just feels right given the collection’s overall vibe. There were bags with straw detailing, which is to be expected for a resort collection, and there were also silhouettes with jewel-tone embellishments and studded details. Some bags felt very rocker-chic, like the kiss-lock mini bag and the studded bucket bag that was paired with sky-high platform booties. Some of these comments are really harsh
Unimaginative products and desperate reliance on logos make YSL a boring brand for Starbucks-drinking babes.
😂
I don’t like black handbags, but you would not have to twist my arm to get a couple of these. I’ve always liked the YSL aesthetic overall.
I love the little coin purse on a chain.
I don’t understand all the negativity here. I have many YSL bags and they are all beautiful, classic and long lasting. This new collection is gorgeous.
I’m not the biggest fan of the massive ysl logo on bags but I must admit I quite like many of the styles here
Hate it all. It looks very pedestrian to me.
Sighs. Were I a decade (or two) younger, I’d be all over these boots.
On topic, the harnessed straw tote is kind of cute.
The shoes are distracting my eyes 👀
the shoes are definitely ugly and whoever styled these models should be fired
Fired? Because YOU don’t like the shoes? Riiight.
Tried bag on in Harrods, London. Feels and looks really cheap, very disappointed. Lacks Dior sophistication!
Trying to go in too many directions. I like the multicolor studs & wish they stuck more with that motif. Why do they have those studded bags and then have weird raffia and crochet and then on top of that have minimalistic bags and then a chanel-flap-type bag for good measure? I get they are doing a kind of 70s rocker revival with a bit of hippie to make it more resort but these bags wouldn’t all be from the same brand in the 70s so it just feels weird to me. Oh hedi
Hedi hasn’t worked for YSL since 2016.
