For most of us (and if this is not you, I’m jealous), splurging on a bag on a whim is not in the cards.
Money is, in fact, an object.
Though I wish I could say I haven’t shopped on impulse (I have, and I’ll probably do it again if I’m being honest), my impulse buys have never put me into a financial hole that I’ll never be able to climb out of.
Yes, I might fall victim to the thrill of the moment. Here is a case in point: I bought my Bottega Veneta Hop bag on Avenue Montaigne during a Paris trip with my mom when I said I would not buy a bag. However, my impulse purchases have never been completely unreasonable.
These days, with prices skyrocketing regularly, most of us plan our purchases in advance. While, yes, budgeting and ensuring your finances are in line to make a sound purchase is important, it’s also hard to impulsively spend a lot of money on an item with the worry that you’ll regret it later.
The Thrill of the Moment
Shopping mindfully is the responsible thing to do. But admittedly, well-thought-out bag buys take some of the fun out of it for me. I often daydream about what it must be like to have the means to snag one of your holy grails on a random Wednesday in February when it just so happens to come back in stock or pop up a resale site.

The Ultimate Holy Grail
Me, I’d buy a vintage Hermès Kelly Sellier Box Calf in 25 or 28cm. Though the Birkin at one point in my youth had appealed to me, I’ve long since realized it is not a bag I’d like to own someday, but a vintage Kelly is my ultimate Holy Grail. Because black bags are never my first choice, I’ve often toyed back and forth between dark green and burgundy, but these days, my obsession is definitely the latter.
From Kendall Jenner to up close and personal on the streets of New York, this bag is quite literally haunting me, and I’d buy it in a heartbeat if I could.

Sadly, it would not be an Hermès bag. I’m done with those. I would buy a 35cm bespoke Dream Bag by Peter Nitz in Zurich.

I plan to buy a Prada nylon backpack soon! I need an every day durable bag to replace my Chanel Urban Spirit backpack that I have been using way too much.
I have a black Birkin 30 with gold hardware – and I have no idea why I went for gold, I actually much prefer palladium and all my jewelry is platinum/white gold. If I could have any bag in the world, I would swap my black Birkin 30 for a palladium one – I think it would look much more modern and suit my style better. Or I would special order a black Birkin 25 in matte alligator, palladium, with a gorgeous bright pop of colour for the inside lining. If only I had the funds for exotics!
Pink Chanel Trendy CC in the medium size or the Reissue 2.5 also in pink. I’m not a fan of Chanel except for those two bags.
i need to downsize 🙁 if anything, but there’s no bag I’d love more than a vintage box kelly 32. Years and years ago, Ann’s Fabulous Finds had one for a little under $6k. Didn’t jump and now I regret it. ah well…

As I have basically just picked up my Birkin 30 in stunning swift leather with palladium hardware I felt content regarding my bag collection… But the more I use my latest addition, the more a I grave another one. So if I could, I’d love to add a red Kelly 32 in of course my new favorite Leather. Swift <3
At the moment, I would love to add the Sofia 8.75 bag from The Row. I love the shape and stye of that bag so much. But I would want it in a brighter colour, not the dreary brown and black that it currently comes in.
