If you haven’t caught World Cup fever yet, you’re probably alone, at least based on the daily shouting we hear from around our floor at work every day. I played soccer as a kid and have loved it since I was eight years old, but even you’re a relative novice when it comes to the beautiful game, the excitement and energy of the World Cup can be intoxicating. Based on the MCM München Cute Monsters Soccer Special Edition Backpack, the fashion industry certainly isn’t immune.

The brand, which was founded in Germany and is now based in South Korea, certainly knows a thing or two about feeding global obsessions; its old school logo and heavily adorned backpacks are a huge hit. This particular piece comes festooned with a little soccer monster, defending an unseen goal from a ball bearing the brand’s initials. It’s a cute World Cup souvenir, for sure, but it lacks the modern polish that some of MCM’s other cartoon’d bags have had in the past. Despite my general love of sports and specific love of MCM, I’m going to have to leave it.
