Louis Vuitton’s Monogram Canvas is a true fashion enigma. So rarely does a motif stand the test of time in the way that LV Monogram has, remaining simultaneously a classic and of the moment. While it is always relevant, its popularity does ebb and flow, and right now it’s having a major renaissance.
Louis Vuitton’s iconic Monogram logo canvas was created by Louis Vuitton’s son, Georges, in 1896. It is one of the more widely recognized logos in the world, but it’s not just an international status symbol—it’s also one of the luxury world’s most durable materials.
Originally created for use on trunks and bags meant for train and later air travel, the use of Louis Vuitton Monogram continues to evolve. With Nicolas Ghesquière at the brand’s helm, there’s no better time to be a lover of Louis Vuitton Monogram, and today we’re taking a look at the latest addition to the LV Monogram family.
The Next Viral Hit from Vuitton
For many of us, Louis Vuitton Monogram canvas is a reminder of the earliest days of loving bags, with the Speedy and the Pochette Accessoires being some of the most popular designer starter bags of the aughts.
These days, a new cohort of Monogram bags reigns. If you’re looking to start your collection with a Louis Vuitton Monogram piece, the new Pochette Mia is worth considering, as it combines everything we know and love about LV Monogram.
Ideal for both day and night carry, the Pochette Mia is trimmed in aged cowhide leather and finished with the Maison’s iconic S-lock, an ode to its heritage roots. The perfect size for just the essentials, the bag also allows for the strap to be removed for hand-carry as a pouch, or you can add a chain strap for evening wear.
While many of us are well past our days of starter bags, the Pochette Mia feels like a nostalgic ode to our earliest days of bag-loving and is worthy of a look ahead of the gifting season for the newbies in our lives.
Discover it now and purchase via Louis Vuitton for $1,920.

I am an LV loyalist. I don’t dislike this bag. But I am appalled, even offended, by its price point. For nearly $2,000, I think my newbie niece (age 25) should receive much more then this little Pochette… Knowing her, even for a Gen Z, this is way over the top. I know, by now, no one should be surprised by the absurd price levels anymore. But it just doesn’t feel right and makes me sad.
Then and now, I find many of LV products best in quality and timeless. They remain the mainstay of my collection. For travel there’s coated canvas, for work, there’s EPI leather. Occasional collabs throw in something fun. It has made my life easy.
I don’t blame this market-driven tactic. Just lamenting. I want the simpler days back – days when life made much better sense. Time has worn me out.
Tipping at $2100 after taxes for a bag the size of a crucible is wild.
I totally agree. Combine that with declining quality. Vintage LV is the only way to go.
People have been talking about declining LV quality since the 1980s when I started to purchase their bags and luggage. If this was true. Their bags would be made out of paper napkins by now. I buy at least one bag a year and they are all of excellent quality. However, just because something is expensive doesn’t mean it’s indestructible .
Agreed! I’ve worn my Speedy 25 (from 2008) to DEATH. It was the only designer bag I had through my late teens and well into my early 20s so it was well loved. The handles are so worn but the canvas is completely perfect.
While I agree entirely with you on pricing, it’s gotten out of control. Still I do remember carrying all of my books in my hands and my tiny cell phone/lunch money in my little Dior Saddle Pochette because it was all I could afford.
However, as I’ve written here on PB before, entry-level pricing does feel out of reach, whereas when we were young, it felt possible! I was flabbergasted to see that the price of the Speedy is $1,940! I got mine in 2008 for my high school graduation, and I think it was about $600?
Totally agree, I’m content to look at pictures these days. There is no joy in spending 10k on a bag and feeling like a fool/target for thieves. They have all lost their greedy minds.
*than (as in “more than”, somehow I am not able to edit)
Good luck with these canvas corners!
Louis Vuitton…another first fashion and not good for our precious environment
I feel like we need to talk about the Eclipse collection making a comeback! That is what I am really excited for.
LV is so boring. Every mom at Target has one.
Everyone has an iPhone… that won’t prevent me from getting and enjoying one.
It’s too tiny and boring. The price is prohibitive for sure. You can get a wonderful soft petit mal that is more interesting and holds more on the pre loved market for less. Or get get the gorgeous inside out neverfull or even a speedy 20. I’d buy a coach soft tabby before I’d buy this or some wonderful leather contemporary all leather bag from one of the interesting new designers like Polène or Minor History.
