December really is the perfect time for luxury-themed novelty items to hit stores. Have a vain friend who requires a gift but don’t want to spend very much? The keychain and coin purse options abound, and many of them already come packaged in gift boxes for your present-swapping pleasure.

“What do you give a girl that has everything?” is a question a lot of fashion lovers (or friends of fashion lovers) ask themselves around this time of year, and if you want to get a little more creative than the requisite key pouch and still stay within budget, perhaps a set of Lanvin Faces Playing Cards (with two full decks!) is, err…in the cards? Boo, hiss, I know, bad joke.

Lanvin’s release of signature playing cards follows in the estimable brand-everything-known-to-man footsteps of Louis Vuitton and its set of three logo decks, but at $85, these cards save you a whole $20 over the Louis Vuitton purchase price, although you get one fewer set, make any cost-benefit analyses as you may see fit. The Lanvin cards are just as ridiculous as any set of designer playing cards (a phrase I never expected to type, ever, but have now typed several times!) could be, but with the fun illustrations, you could possibly get crafty and make them into some sort of pop-art wall decor. I know that’s what I’d do if I suddenly found a set of these in my possession. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $85.

Meh. They’re cute, but I think I’ll keep my designer goods in the bag and shoe department.

I find it intriguing that there are people that would buy these things (if there weren’t, I don’t think designers would still be making them). I mean, it’s really cute, and it’s a fun way of owning a piece of Lanvin…but clothes/shoes/bags are so much more worth it.

I think that this is really a good way to show that the website still exists, as this would help to show the presence of the business.

these are cute and I love the box that they come in (I assume that’s the box behind the cards), but I’d never spend $85 on a deck (sorry, TWO decks!) of playing cards! Definitely a case where you’re paying for the name rather than the product! (ipad)

  • Tiffany

I would never spend more than $10 on playing cards (ipad)

As a rule, i hate designer cards, wallpaper, chopsticks, band-aids etc etc ….. so i should in theory immediately ridicule these …. but lanvin hasn’t just stamped their name on cards and sent them out …. they are so whimsical … I love them . (ipad)

Questions about the former exclusive collection for H&M: Thanks!
Did you go to see Lanvin’s collection for H&M?
Whether you bought a piece from the collection or not, your opinion interests me!

I’m doing a PhD on this subject and am very interested in what you have to say.
Here is the link to the Questionnaire

It will take no longer than 4 to 6 minutes and your help is very important for my study.

Thank you for completing this form!
