Jacquemus

Currently Coveting: Jacquemus La Pochette Rond Carré

I am simply obsessed, and apparently I'm not the only one...

Earlier this summer, Simon Porte Jacquemus staged the show of the season at the Palace of Versailles, and it was the place to be. The show marked a new era, both for the brand and the Palace, which isn’t available for rent to just anyone. In fact, the entire production was a year in the making, but it turned out to be the perfect event and the beginning of an unlikely but amazing partnership.

With each passing year and each new collection, Jacquemus continues to elevate its place in the luxury space. Even with that elevation, the brand remains beloved by youth and still somehow feels accessible, which Vogue said best “That’s the Jacquemus magic trick—no matter how big, how far, or how spectacular, it somehow always feels within reach.”

Jacquemus Le Chouchou

For Fall 2023, the ever-inventive Porte Jacquemus took inspiration from a few different eras. There were obvious nods to the 80s—like ruching and volume as well as odes to one of the Palace’s most famous residents, Marie Antoinette, who favored ballet and the theater. The collection, dubbed Le Chouchou, perfectly encapsulated the overall vibe. “Everything was looking like a big chouchou [hair scrunchie],” Porte Jacquemus told Vogue. As for the bags, there were riffs on old silhouettes that have become both staples and fan favorites. There were also some new designs, and one, in particular, seems to have stolen the hearts of many, myself included.

La Pochette Rond Carré

Models waltzed down the runway clutching a new pouch from the house in various colors and sizes, but the silver metallic version was the true shopper. Teased on the brand’s Instagram following the show, it was clear that the La Pochette Rond Carré would be the next It-bag for Jacquemus. Modeled after take-out bags, the clutch is crafted from shiny silver metallic leather with an eye-catching mirrored effect. True to form, it rolls open to reveal the interior, and gold metal hardware on the bag’s sides act as closures—one circle, one square—along with a magnetic interior closure.

Chic, stylish and a true show-stopper, the La Pochette Rond Carré was an instant hit, selling out almost immediately on the brand’s website as well as across the board on Luisviaroma, Shopbop and more. Now that I’ve fallen madly and deeply in love, I simply must have it, but somehow I keep missing the brand’s restocks.
