Introducing the Saint Laurent Solferino Bag

A sleek bag perfect for the logo lover

Saint Laurent is good at many things, but one of their strong suits as a brand is knowing what works for them and continuing to do it well. While some may argue that it’s boring or repetitive, Saint Laurent has done an incredible job of taking its logo bags and successfully reinventing them time and time again.

Though Hedi Slimane was the originator of the now iconic YSL hardware, when Anthony Vaccarello took over the reigns as creative director he took to the brand well, keeping the aesthetic that Saint Laurent’s fans know and love. YSL’s logo bags have been reinterpreted time and time again, season after season, and for fall 2020 Vaccarello has done it again. Introducing: the Saint Laurent Solferino Bag.

The Solferino is a box-like structured satchel bag with an adjustable shoulder strap. Truthfully, there’s not all that much to say about this bag—the shape is simple and sleek with clean lines which works as a good canvas for YSL’s bold logo hardware. Though this bag does make a statement with its logo finish, overall the shape is ladylike and classic. Crafted from smooth leather that looks buttery soft, or suede, the Solferino is currently available in neutral tones, as well as a stunning red hue.

As for the sizes, there is a small version (shown below) that measures 7.4″W x 5.1″L x 2″D and a medium size (shown above in red) that is 9″W x 6.2″L x 2.3 x D. Both sizes are fairly compact, but the medium could work as a day bag depending on how much you carry, though purse sizes are such a personal choice. As for the interior, the bag is lined in leather and there is one main compartment, a card slot and a flat pocket. Prices range from $2,490 for the small Solferino to $2,800 for the medium.
