You know how sometimes you fall for a bag, review it, use it, and then think, “If it came in this color, I’m going to need it, too”? That’s precisely what happened for me with the Le Tanneur Emie. When I first introduced the Emie, I shared how it snuck under the radar of the big designer names but still offered serious luxe vibes (and function) for under $700 (the size I am sharing today is larger and only $750).
Now, with this fresh new colorway, I’m revisiting the bag with reinvigorated love. Sure, the shape and design are the same gorgeous combo I know, but the hue? It subtly but powerfully shifts everything! For those of you who have been eyeing the Emie but holding out for a fall and winter color, this one might be for you!

5 Reasons I Love the Emie (especially in this color!)
1. The Color Transforms Everything!
This color, the brand calls Revolution Red, and it is one of those hues that instantly changes how you experience the bag. It’s deep and sophisticated, with just enough vibrance to stand out without feeling loud. The combination of full-grain calfskin body and nubuck suede sides brings the shade to life, and subtle tonal shifts become visible as the light hits different angles. It’s the kind of red that feels equally chic with denim and a wool coat as it does with a tailored business look. I’m obviously in the denim and shirt in this scenario, but you know what I mean!
2. It’s as Functional as Ever!
One of the reasons I initially fell for the Emie is its insanely functional design. There are so many pockets, so much organization, and so much separation; it all just makes sense. The external back pocket provides easy access to your phone (as long as you don’t have a Sonny Angel baby attached like I do), while the front slip pocket and well-structured interior with a zip divider make organization effortless. Add in the removable, adjustable strap, and it transitions seamlessly from a shoulder bag to a crossbody. Nothing about that has changed, and I love that the new color lets the hardware and detailing pop even more.
3. The Quality Still Overdelivers
I said it before, and I’ll say it again: the Emie feels far more expensive than its price tag suggests!! The leather is buttery yet structured, the suede sides add beautiful texture, and the finishing details, from the reinforced base to the metal feet, make it feel durable and luxurious. There’s something about this hue of red that helps the craftsmanship stand out even more. It’s proof that a luxury bag doesn’t have to cost thousands.
4. It’s Effortlessly Under the Radar
While many brands compete for logo visibility, Le Tanneur still flies under the radar in the U.S., which is precisely what makes the Emie feel special. It’s a piece you’ll rarely see in the wild, but when someone does notice it, they’re bound to ask about it.
5. It’s a Seasonal Neutral with Personality
A deep red hue like this may sound bold, but it’s surprisingly versatile. It reads as a neutral in colder months, pairing beautifully with camel, gray, black, and navy, yet it still brings warmth and dimension to an outfit. The silhouette already works year-round; this color just makes it feel even more polished for fall and winter.

And where does that leave me? Right back to where I started, in love with this bag. In love with how soft and smooth the leather is, and my Virgo self is obsessed with all the pockets and organization.
The Emie also comes in a few sizes, including medium, large, and maxi. I now have both the medium (which I actually think is more of a small) and the large (which, by proxy, feels like more of a size medium). That would mean the maxi would fully function as a great work bag, if you’d like, or even haul all your essentials for travel.

The Emie Family

You convinced me that I need this now!
We can be bag twins!
Another under the radar Le Tanneur to consider is the “Sans Couture” . It is stunning. (Also on of their made in France ) pieces . The studded black is stunning!
Ah yes, I love that one as well!!
The red is already sold out!
I hope they restock the red soon!! The other hues are divine as well – but let me ask about the red!
I’m curious, is it a heavy bag?
No, actually, not heavy at all – it’s a really user-friendly bag that is well-thought-out!
Megs, I have to have the Revolution Red bag! I am so into shoulder bags. In fact, I’m ever going to buy any other type of bag. This color and the functionality you describe is devine!
Im intrigued. Can you post some pictures of how it looks when worn? Trying to imagine the proportions
Thank you
I prefer the more structured Emilie. I bought the medium size last year in Paris. I would have bought the large size as well but the strap is too thin for a large bag, esp when loaded with laptop etc. I wish they offered it with a wider, sturdier strap.
The large Emie bag in read is sold out already. I’ve been having issues with their website and they don’t respond to inquiries. Is anyone else having issues? Thanks.
