One of the handbag world’s most significant trends over the last few years has been suede. From the soft suedes that began trending last spring to an influx of dark browns and deep hues last fall, suede remains a must-have. While once thought to be a material reserved for the cooler months, in modern fashion, there are no rules anymore, and suede has been trending all year long.
Its popularity shows no signs of waning, with designers dropping suede iterations of some of our favorite bags. Not to mention, suede often overlaps with other handbag trends, specifically the return of big bags, which makes a lot of sense.
Suede’s soft, flexible body works well to create the perfect slouch and smoosh associated with big bags, and Gucci is here to delight with a bag that checks all of those boxes. Meet the Gucci Jackie Giorno shoulder bag, the bag that currently has the entire PurseBlog team in a collective chokehold. Plus, we love it styled with a classic Gucci scarf!
Introducing the Gucci Jackie Giorno Shoulder Bag
The Gucci Jackie 1961 was one of the most significant handbag releases of 2020, not just for Gucci but within the entire handbag world as a whole. Aptly renamed the Gucci Jackie 1961 after the year it was created and the style icon it was originally created for, the new Jackie quickly rose to It-bag status, appearing on the arms of celebrities, style stars, and handbag lovers alike.

Introduced during Alessandro Michele’s reign at the House of Gucci, the revival continues to be one of the most celebrated bags of the 2020s, reappearing season after season in fun colors and novelty iterations alike. This season, Gucci introduces the Jackie Giorno shoulder bag, a relaxed maxi version of the iconic Jackie 1961 in soft suede.
Design Details: Size, Features, and Functionality
Its soft body oozes an effortless appeal, which also speaks to the boho trend. Its oversized body melds fashion and function, and we are obsessed with this modern take on a true brand classic. The Gucci Jackie Girono is crafted from lightweight suede, designed with softness and slouchiness in mind, and it can be worn crossbody in addition to shoulder wear.
Arriving in two perfect hues—dark and light brown—it has a zippered pocket inside and overall dimensions of 17.3″ W x 13″ H x 2.8″ D.
Such a large bag but it looks amazing!
Great hob, but far too large. You could carry the kitchen sink in that bag! And suede carried under-arm just might end up with sweat stains. A smaller version with crossbody capability would offer more versatility for many of us who can’t handle a huge purse.

Love it
It’s missing the crossbody strap of the leather 2000s version.
