Givenchy has been in flux since Riccardo Tisci departed the House in 2017. Givenchy had a clear POV in the Tisci days and was beloved for its It-bags and dark romanticism. In the wake of his departure, the House struggled to find its footing.
Clare Waight Keller, who succeeded Tisci, was later replaced by Matthew Williams, and both designers only sat at the brand’s helm for 3 years. While there were some strong designs under each designer’s tenure (like Williams’ Voyou bag), 3 years is simply not long enough to establish a refreshed vision and new brand direction.
Sarah Burton Takes the Helm
However, Givenchy is hopeful that’s about to change with the hiring of Sarah Burton, who joined the House after its lead seat sat empty for nine months. Burton brings years of experience and a strong, clear point of view. Her first collection, which debuted on the Fall 2025 runway, is finally here.
Starting strong earlier this summer, Burton refreshed a Givenchy signature—the iconic Antigona. However, the Pinch Bag, which arrives as part of her first collection, is all her own, signaling a new era for Givenchy.

The debut of the first bag under a new creative director is not only exciting but also a foreshadowing of what’s to come. What will remain of the person who came before? What will change?
Spoiler alert: a lot.
Introducing the Givenchy Pinch Bag
Williams’ Givenchy was defined by bold hardware and silhouettes with an edge. Still, Givenchy is running it back under Burton’s direction, returning to the chic, paired-back elegance and sophistication of Givenchy in its earliest days—and within the ready-to-wear, sleek, strong tailoring.
The Pinch Bag reflects Burton’s aesthetic on the runway—refined and elegant with sharp, structured lines. The shape is slightly east/west, which feels of the moment but not too trendy. Given its name for the gold hardware on the side of the bag, the top handle silhouette offers a soft structure.
The bag is available in three sizes: mini, medium, and large, each with a detachable shoulder strap. Pricing starts at $2,350. Discover more below and via Givenchy. What do you think?

It’s too grandma looking – not quite crook of arm, not quite handheld, not quite shoulder
Oh that’s.. ugly.
