For this year, my Christmas (and birthday, which is Christmas Eve) are a little predictable: I already got my big present, which was a new and much-needed MacBook Pro. I can still dream, though, especially on the Internet, where loading a shopping cart full of stuff you love doesn't cost anything. It won't even attract the attention of a security guard, which it almost certainly would at the mall.
With that in mind, I did a little fantasy shopping to pick out what I'd love to see under the tree in a world with unlimited budgets. Check out my picks below.
Aquazzura Wild Thing Sandals
$785 via Neiman Marcus
I can't wear true heels because of an old sports injury, but I often find myself going to events or parties that would benefit from a shoe that feels special without being uncomfortable or potentially dangerous. This sandal, with its low block, is exactly that. Plus, it can do double duty as a casual option.
Balenciaga Blackout City S Bag
$2,450 via Balenciaga
This new, hardware-free version of the City is not beloved by all Balenciaga fanatics, but the more times I've seen it, the more I like it. The three-dimensional cutout effect is achieved by layering two sheets of the same leather on top of each other, which gives the bag an interesting depth I haven't seen anywhere else. Plus, the finish, size and color of this version is just perfect.
Balenciaga Satin Bomber Jacket
$2,100 via Net-a-Porter
What can I say, Demna Gvasalia just does it for me, even though I'd also be perfectly happy with one of the much less expensive jackets from which this one gets its aesthetic inspiration.
Clinique Tiny Temptations Chubby Stick Set
$49.50 via Sephora
The only lip color I ever want to wear consistently is a true, deep red, but I like to wear tons of others inconsistently, if that makes any sense. This little set of mostly sheer, moisturizing balm sticks comes in a ton of widely flattering shades that are each just big enough to occupy me until I'm ready to move on to the next one.
Coach Rexy Bag Charm
$150 via Coach
I love all of Coach's recent dinosaur additions, perhaps because I was so ardently in love with dinosaurs as a child. (Even though they were for boys, which, looking back--it's super weird to gender an interest in dinosaurs!)
Equipment Lilian Washed Silk Pajama Set
$385 via Net-a-Porter
Remember how, when we were kids, finding a set of pajamas under the tree was nothing short of an abject nightmare? Well, now I'm about to turn 31 and all I want are cute shorty pajama sets. My, how the tables have turned.
Gucci GucchiGhost Marmont Camera Bag
$1,890 via Gucci
I'm a sucker for limited edition or seasonal prints, and I've loved this one (and the bag it's on) since day one.
Loewe Oversized Mohair and Wool Blend Scarf
$750 via Net-a-Porter
I usually don't wear this much color, but something about this big, plush scarf-shawl just makes me so happy. Also, it's nearly seven feet long in total, so it's the perfect scarf-blanket hybrid for long flights.
Moroccanoil Dry Body Oil
$48 via Sephora
This stuff smells totally divine and makes your skin look great. The only problem is my bottle is nearly empty.
Nike Roshe Two Flyknit Sneakers
$140 via Nike
All-black Roshe Ones are my everyday shoes, and this updated version with a red gradient is calling my name.
Prada Corsaire Bag
$2,440 via Net-a-Porter
I've become very much convinced of saddle bags' virtues over the past couple seasons, and this is a version that manages not to look like all the rest of them.
The Elder Statesman Cashmere Hooded Baja Sweater
$2,140 via Net-a-Porter
Who wouldn't want to be forever swaddled in an oversized cashmere hoodie?
