Over four season of careful study of the fashion on Gossip Girl, a few things become apparent: Lily loves Hermes. Rufus loves plaid. Nate loves his manbangs. What may not be quite so obvious, though, is Serena’s appreciation of Carlos Falchi.
Falchi’s bags often don’t stand out as obviously his because they don’t feature any sort of obvious logos, markings or hardware, but it wouldn’t surprise me if a lot of people were noticing the Carlos Falchi Shiny Moroccan Croc Bag being toted around the Upper East Side set very soon. It just has “Serena Van Der Woodsen’ written all over it.
Carlos Falchi seems to have no shortage of interesting ways to treat crocodile and other exotic skins, and this one looks particularly fascinating on closer inspection. Is the metallic effect painted on, or is the entire bag dyed that way? I honestly don’t have the answers to that question, but I want to have this bag in my possession immediately. Unfortunately, it’s a bit price-prohibitive, so I’ll have to settle for admiring it from afar – and hopefully, it will make an appearance on my television as well as on my computer. Buy through Neiman Marcus for $5995.
I love >Falchi desing btu I think that this bag is too full of color…It’s so heavy!!
Idon’t liek it!!

Falchi is one of my faves! Love most of his work and that includes this item. It has a watercolor effect going on and I find it interesting.
I often feel that Falchi doesn’t get his due. His work is usually stunning and this bag is no exception. Love it.
Very expensive but the leather is just smashing. Dislike for the design though, I think the bag is kind of small, and truthfully it`s more appropiate for ladies over their 30`s
It’s 15 inches wide, so that may be somewhat of an optical illusion in this photo – the handles are long so it can be carried on the shoulder, which might make the bag look smaller on your screen.
Love, love, love
That color is AMAZING!! LOVE!
LOVE IT!
What a stunner! The cobalt blue is just magnificent and the design is unmistakably Falchi, with all the ruffles and pleats. This type of skin treatment is achieved by first tanning the hide in the lighter tone, and then applying the finishing metallic color to create a random, mottled effect.
After tanning is finished, the hide is cut and the parts of the handbag are sewn together, often by hand. The process is very labor intensive, thus very expensive, especially considering the fact that the Falchi brand still manufactures their handbags domestically, in the U.S. So, the price is really justifiable.
Actually, the metallic finish on exotic skins was introduced in the late 1960s by Judith Leiber and Martin Van Schaak, who both used it on python skins (see those handbags in the new collector’s book “Exotic Skin: Alligator and Crocodile Handbags”).
I actually do not like the colour. Looks like paint exploded all over this bag. And while that can look cool, it doesn’t in this case.

LOVE the color combination – metallic and cobalt exotic, sure bordering on over the top but the quality of the materials make it shine as a real signature piece.
I love the colour and the way Falchi treats exotic skins! He makes exotic skin look very edgy and quite in fashion! Plus, I too adore Serena’s choices of bags on GG!
