Some bags are introduced and just as quickly rise to iconic cult status, and that’s exactly what happened when Dior launched the Book Tote for Spring/Summer 2018. Inspired by a drawing produced by Marc Bohan in 1967, the bag is simple in both its aesthetics and silhouette, but the original embroidered version requires more than 37 hours of work and 1,500,000 stitches to complete.
The shape may be simplistic, but the overall design and impeccable craftsmanship encompass everything that Dior’s brand DNA stands for. Now, under the design direction of Jonathan Anderson, the Book Tote, an everlasting silhouette that has become synonymous with the House of Dior, is given new life.
A Timeless Silhouette, Reimagined
The Dior Book Cover Collection honors the essence of this cornerstone design while celebrating some of the literary world’s most iconic novels. Remaining true to the original, the new Dior Book Totes showcase the exceptional savoir-faire of Dior’s ateliers, seamlessly blending practicality and function with refined elegance.
The new designs are available in three sizes—mini, medium, and large—with the mini and medium styles featuring a detachable and adjustable nylon shoulder strap. The largest model is finished with a magnetic closure for added practicality.
A Collector’s Dream for Fashion Bibliophiles
Bibliophiles will delight in options such as Bram Stoker’s Dracula, accented with vivid yellow and red details, while the romantic Les Fleurs du Mal by Charles Baudelaire charms in soft baby pink and green hues. Each model is completed with the sleek, elegant new Dior logo.

This is so unimaginative, really This is the best Dior could do with all the design talent they have? I am appalled.
Agree with Sania… I feel so bored looking at them especially since the original book tote has the wonderful designs with the Tigers etc…. this is just some writing saying the books name ….what a yawn
100%
Such a fun idea but it should be priced at $100 as they cost $5 to make in the sweat shops Dior allegedly uses
It already looks dated.
Christian Dior would roll over in his grave..
He would have loved the idea and hated the execution.
I just do not think the Book Tote is worth the price! At least the older versions are embroidered….the pics about do not look they are any longer. It’s a no for me.
It’s like a bag that you can get from buying a complete series of certain books, but its Dior and 2 – 3k. yikes
The mini is very cute. But $2600?!
Especially because it’s one of the bags Dior manufactures for under 50 euros.
Ugly and awful.
Noooooooo 😱👎🏻
I don’t think these will sell well. Don’t mind the literary angle (love the Olympia Le Tan book cover clutches) but this is totally basic and uninspired. My money is safe.
I’m completely in love! It’s whimsical and literary!
In some instances, there is also a small available. I know because I got one! Interestingly, the Dior sites in some other countries (Thailand, India, France) have a few different versions that I haven’t seen on the U.S. size as well as additional sizes for some of the new collection that aren’t available (yet?) in the U.S.
Some interesting book choices – are Dior buyers big James Joyce fans?
Dior gives many things, but heady and intellectual are not among them. Prada maybe.
