If one word had to be used to describe Dior’s Fall 2023 collection, it would be elegant. Revisiting the 1950s, Maria Grazia Chiuri explored the iconic history of Dior during the design process for the Fall collection, having been greatly inspired by three of the House’s most fashionable muses, Catherine Dior, Édith Piaf, and Juliette Gréco. Beautiful textures and eye-catching prints were seen throughout, and this elegant, feminine aesthetic also translated into the bags.
An Enchanting Collector’s Piece
One of those bags, unveiled on the runway, is a stunning trunk that was imagined by Maria Grazia Chiuri as part of the Fall 2023 collection. Featuring enchanting yellow, pink, and blue hues, the new Dior Malle Trunk is finished with hints of antique gold. A Dior classic, the iconic toile de Jouy print shines in the color palette mentioned above, reinterpreted to reflect the flora and fauna of Indian landscapes.
While the design itself was imagined by Maria Grazia Chiur, it’s Dior’s artisans who really bring the trunk to life. Each leather component is thoroughly checked to ensure that the motif perfectly aligns with the strips of leather assembled one at a time, completely by hand, a true representation of Dior’s storied Savoir-Faire.
A true collector’s piece, the trunk is lined in leather with an embossed Christian Dior signature logo. On the exterior, a bold CD is engraved on the Dior Malle Trunk’s closure. Inside the trunk, a micro version of one of the House’s most emblematic bags, the Lady Dior, is also revealed. The Micro Lady Dior features a lively iteration of the print, coming to life in distinct embroidery. The duo is sold together; the price is $16,000 via select Dior boutiques. Discover more below.

Other than the Book Tote, I do not normally like Dior bags but this Malle Trunk changes that big time. It is gorgeous. I wonder how much it will cost though if I have to ask I cannot afford it.
We just updated with pricing! The duo is sold together for $16,000.
These hard-sided items are so clearly made by the same people who make the ones for Louis Vuitton… Just change the hardware and send them to Dior! You gotta love a giant fashion conglomerate pulling resources between brands.
I recon Bernard Arnault wants to sell a lot of “ stuff “ to gets back to being the top richest man in the world. Doesn’t care about the quality of products nor quality of customer service. He just wants to sell “stuff” lol
I absolutely agree with you that Bernard Arnault, like any CEO, wants his company to make as much money as possible. Nothing wrong with that—it’s called capitalism—and Arnault is clearly quite good at it!
On the other hand, I think it’s unfair to say that he doesn’t care about quality of products or customer service. I worked for Louis Vuitton for a few years and it was quite the opposite. There was always great attention to detail and to the customer experience. However, products are not indestructible and employees are not infallible. People’s expectations are sometimes unrealistic.
Selling “stuff” (as you put it) is literally the goal of any retailer… why is that seen negatively when it comes to luxury products? Probably because we want to trick ourselves into thinking that we are paying for something rare and precious. But even the most prestigious of bags, like the Birkin or Kelly, sell hundreds of units daily across the world.
Practically everything is being made by the same people these days. I don’t see how this example is a problem though as it’s much more beautiful than the standard LV monogram we’re used to seeing on their trunks.
So it’s a Louis V trunk masquerading as Dior? Does no one have any original ideas?
The colors are beautiful, but the theme is not. I would purchase if beautiful exotic flowers were utilized.
Just a box. Beautiful but a box.
The colours and artwork are stunning and theres some beautiful craftsmanship. I love.
Don’t hate on me but I love it!!
