I’ve shared the story so many times that I think everyone knows it by now, but it is a story that is integral to the existence of this site and truly projects my life to this day. Without my love for Coach bags, I am not sure I would be where I am today, so I owe it all to Coach. No, really! Hear me out.
I was in a new town and a new school in 8th grade. My family had moved from the West Coast of Florida to South Florida, and while it’s only a 4-hour drive between the two cities, it was a significant cultural shift. I am trying to dig into my 12-year-old memories, and while I am sure I was aware of nice bags and other luxury items when we lived in Sarasota, it didn’t truly take hold until I moved to Fort Lauderdale and began seeing them everywhere. I was instantly drawn in, and my sights were set on a Coach bag.
In 8th grade, when I finally got that first Coach bag after begging, explaining, reasoning, and rationalizing, my life’s path changed. I am where I am today because of that bag. And while the bag wasn’t this exact bag, it was the 30-year-old predecessor of it. Which is precisely why I am sharing that the Coach Nolita is the perfect milestone moment handbag, especially during this gifting season.
Little But Limitless: The Day-to-Night Nolita
First off, I still own my first Coach bag, and I will never part with it. The best part about the bag, aside from the major memories, is that, despite its small size, it is mighty. It winds up fitting far more than you’d imagine, and because of its size, it’s incredibly lightweight as well.
This is the kind of bag that makes an excellent gift for any milestone moment: a first bag, graduation, promotion, new job, birthday, or holiday. I like to think of this as the bag that I received and gifted to help people start their own handbag journey, to discover more of the world that I know and love, and expand and grow from there.
Dimensions and Details
As for the bag itself, it transforms from a shoulder bag to a wristlet or pouch depending on how you utilize the strap. While compact in size, it fits far more than you’d first think, including an iPhone (but no extra Sonny Angel funny business on your case if you actually want this to work!). The interior features two credit card slots, allowing you to skip a wallet if desired.
As with many Coach bags, there are endless options. There’s coated canvas with the classic Coach C logo, leather variations, suede, and a wide range of colors. It allows you to pick the bag that speaks to you and further make it your own with charms or by choosing how you style it.

Affordable Luxury
Let’s face it, bag prices haven’t done anything but rise, so having a brand that still offers a bag that can get a lot done at a price that is only just above $100 is a feat. I wouldn’t be surprised to find that the price is not much more than it was when I got my first, 30 years ago.
I love that the Coach Nolita’s price allows me to share my love for bags and the brand that got me started in a way that is more financially feasible. I’ve gifted this bag and a few other Coach bags to all of my cousins for Graduation in years past, and now I am adding this to my holiday gift list as well.
The majority of the styles are available for $109 at Coach Outlet.

I don’t have as much luck, as others, with Coach bags. In fact, they fall apart easily, and the corners wear quickly. However, I have only bought from the outlets, and a SA told me that the quality of regular retail stores vs. outlets are significantly different, but Idk. 🤷♀️
I’m getting a Nolita as Christmas gifts for my little cousins!! May pick up one for myself as well 😃
Right?! I gifted my cousins this bag as a high school graduation gift!!
At least Coach quality has remained in tact unlike so many other designer bags (from what I’ve been reading on the forum). I love Coach!! Thanks for this post Megs! 🙂
Of course!! I am forever a Coach girl, through and through!!
I wish they still made this in the smaller size. Reminds me of the LV Mini Pochette which has risen astronomically in price.
It’s a nice bag, but in that general category, I would far rather have the Saint Laurent Kate bag instead.
