I can’t even begin to explain how excited I am that Charlotte Olympia designer Charlotte Dellal has decided to grace the handbag world with her presence. I’ve been singing that praises of Dellal’s sharp, modern, sexy footwear over at TalkShoes for some time now, and her witty sensibility is a welcome addition to the accessories marketplace. The Charlotte Olympia Pandora Plexiglass Clutch, with its three included inserts and confident lines, is a very promising start for this handbag neophyte.

My initial reaction to this little clutch was a tad dubious; I think that lucite (or otherwise clear) evening bags are very cool, but they’re probably a tough sell without a covetable brand behind them, and Dellal is looking to build an audience instead of sell to one that already exists and loves her bags. When I found out that the bag came with three insertable pouches, though, my mind changed completely. In fact, this might be my perfect evening bag.

I’d probably choose to carry it without one of the pouches for maximum effect, but if you’d rather hide your belongings, this clutch allows you to do so in a way that would match practically any outfit you might dream up. And when you’re not using the liners, they could easily double as coin purses or accessory pouches in another bag. This little clutch packs a lot of versatility and some interesting extras for the price, and I can’t wait to see the rest of the Charlotte Olympia line. Buy through Net-a-Porter for $615.

I love this! Very cool! I think I would have to use the animal print one the most!

OMG reasonable ( for fashion lover) + the little cute bags inside very interesting i love everything about it !

  • Stacy

I like it in theory, not in practice. What I mean is that the lucite will end up getting scratched and marred over time and lose it’s beautiful clear effect. If I did purchase this it would only be to look at it behind a glass door, and what fun would that be? I’ll just admire it on the websites.

I actually like this. I don’t know about the price for such a little box, but I do like it.

I agree with Stacy,.. took the words outta my mouth.

It’s like putting your elementary school pencil case inside your lunchbox. To carry things in a see-through case looks sloppy and juvenile. Why not save the $615 and just use a Baggy?
For the price of three nice Laura Merkin clutches, you can get all the above patterns for the same money and not look like a dork. And with Merkin, you choose each bag style. Most things sold in sets usually include a “loser” that you’ll never use.

I just bought this, it’s like a little work of art and so versatile with all the pouches. The lotus flower at the clasp is exquisite.

I’m not a fan at all. It looks cheap to me.

    Waste if money.
Why not jus go to your local Hobby Lobby and buy a lucite storage box. At least when it get scratched, you don’t feel so bad about not wanting to wear it. And…it’s cheaper to replace.
Besides, the profile on that clutch doesn’t look like it would even hold my BlackBerry. Or keys. Or lipstick. But it would hold my debit card.
What’s the point of carrying this if you can’t put anything into it?

  • PhotoGirl

Beautiful, but whenever I see Lucite all I can think about are fingerprints and scratches.

  • Cathy Fitz

Sorry, but I wouldn’t be caught dead with this thing. Fingerprints, scratches. Might look okay standing on a table like a piece of art, but not carrying around or actually using.

The inserts could be a lot prettier especially when they are more focused on from being inside a glass-like display case.
