A Closer Look

A Closer Look at the MANU Atelier Micro Bold

Brand new and finally available I'm giving you a good look at my new favorite mini bag

A couple of weeks ago, we introduced you all to MANU Atelier, an up-and-coming brand from Turkey that has since stolen our hearts. The more I saw from MANU Atelier, the more I loved it, and so I finally reached out to the brand to see if we could pull some bags to get a better look at the collection and what the brand has to offer before introducing them to you. The bags were shipped to us as samples, and while I love what the brand is doing overall, there was one adorable little mini bag that stood out to me: The Micro Bold. Brand new for Pre-Fall 2018, I simply could not get the Micro Bold out of my mind, so much so that I couldn’t imagine giving it back. I loved it so much that our new friends at MANU Atelier let me keep the little lady for myself, and after using it for our shoot and a bunch in my off time, I’m excited to give you all a closer look and a road-tested review!

The Micro Bold is available with either a leather strap or a chain strap, though because we received this bag as a sample, I was able to keep both straps. While the versatility is nice and I’ve mostly used the chain strap, if I were purchasing this bag—and trust me, I would be if I hadn’t been so lucky—I would go with the leather strap. The chain strap is quite heavy, and I also think that the leather strap is better to make this mini bag more of a day-to-night option. The Micro Bold is crafted in soft—but—durable calf leather and features a flap with a hidden magnetic button closure. The bag can be worn crossbody or over the shoulder. While both the chain and the leather straps are completely removable so that the bag can also be carried via the top handle, only the leather strap is adjustable—the chain strap is not.

I’ve used this bag already a fair bit, for nights out or running to the market down the street from my apartment, but it got the most use when I took it along on a day trip to the wineries on the North Fork of Long Island. At first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to bring it. For starters, it’s white, and we all know white clothes and red wine do not mix very well together. Of course, I did manage to get wine on it, which is amazing because I didn’t even drink any red wine, but it wiped clean with a wet napkin, which worked perfectly! My second concern with carrying this bag was the size. I wasn’t sure I would be able to fit everything for the day, but when I organized it just right, I was able to fit all I needed: my zip-around card case held cash, my ID and my debit card. I then added in my sunglasses in a thin cloth pouch, my iPhone, Aquaphor—I never leave home without it!—a lipstick and a lipgloss. The bag has one interior zip pocket, so in theory you could definitely nix the card case to save space and store your ID, credit cards and/or cash in there.
