One aspect I love about Chanel’s handbag offerings is how the brand sticks with its core bags and expands on them seasonally. Sure, seasonal designs are released (usually a spin on an existing bag or a fun novelty option), but overall, the brand knows its core bags and gives them life every single season.
When first launched, the Chanel 22 was met with mixed reactions. The seemingly simple design needed to be explored, worn, and grown accustomed to before fans would know if this bag was a hit. Change can be hard, even with new designs, and though the first season was more of a learning curve, the Chanel 22 proved its adoration with a growing base and is here to stay.
The Chanel 22 Mini in Detail
A year after the 22 bag was first seen at the Spring-Summer 2022 Ready-to-Wear show, the mini version walked the runway in 2023. While its big sister has a shape that can get a bit lost, the Chanel 22 Mini is just the right size to fit all of your needs, including a large iPhone.
It can still be carried over the shoulder or crossbody (thanks to the removable shoulder strap), and it can be dressed up for evening wear and carried by the two classic leather and chain handles.
What all of this means is that the 22 Mini is a bonafide hit.
As Chanel is known to do, new colorways and materials are being introduced to keep fans satiated. While I felt content in my bag collection for the time being, the moment I saw these colored-metallic Chanel Mini 22 Bags, I got that bag-obsessed feeling in my heart.

For Cruise 24/25, a rainbow of metallic colorways is available, including the four we photographed. For a South Florida-based gal like me, this bag would be endlessly carried for events and days throughout the year.
The metallic calfskin has a nice touch, and Chanel’s integration of metallics is extraordinary in retaining color and shine while still feeling malleable and soft. As for the metallic colorways, silver, gold, green, light blue, and lilac are available. Other seasonal options are offered, too, including denim (which I keep not wanting to love but continuously find myself coming back to).

As a former Florida girly who moved up north, do you notice/feel like the south tends to gravitate towards certain bag colors or styles more often vs. northerners? Maybe it’s the city I moved to but I feel bags are much more structured and neutral here, but I instantly knew what you were talking about when you mentioned the metallic bags would fit SoFlo’s vibe haha
Absolutely – these are fully a Florida vibe and I wouldn’t consider these metallic colors if I still lived in NYC for example. I am glad you felt exactly what I was saying!
These are so fab. Going to have to stick with the one Chanel gold mini-shoulder “evening bag” and one black quilted flap bag that I bought almost 20 years ago!! I really splurged on them then, but sadly these new ones are now totally out of reach for most people. Good investment for sure.
