Chanel Price Increase 2018: The Gabrielle and Boy Bag Are Next

Chanel continues to raise prices on some of its most coveted bags...

Price increases are inevitable for most consumer goods, and we’ve all come to expect them. With inflation and cost of living increases, which raise the cost of labor and materials, the items we’ve come to love should go up in price occasionally. But no other luxury brand seems to raise its prices like Chanel, and instead of raising prices across different collections at once, Chanel is doing it one bag line at a time, and to me, that makes it worse. It’s like ripping a Bandaid off versus slowly pulling it back; Chanel is taking the latter approach.

At the end of 2017 Chanel Classic Bags went up in price, then at the start of 2018, the WOC went up nearly 20%, and now a few members of PurseForum were told Chanel Gabrielle Bag prices will go up in the US on February 1, and Boy Bags will follow soon after. We assumed the price increase would continue across all bags, but dragging this out seems to make this much more annoying for the shopper. On one hand, I like the do-it-all-at-once approach, but on the other, at least if you figure it out before the increase happens, you can run out and buy the bag at the ‘old’ price. Come to think of it, Chanel may use this tactic to drum up sales, and I am sure it works for many.

If you are interested in a Chanel Gabrille Bag, go get it now because rumor has it the price increase will hit February 1st. The increase is said to be as follows:

– Small Gabrielle Bag, was $3200, now $3,600
– Medium Gabrielle Bag, was $3,600, now $4,100
– Large Gabrielle Bag, was $4,000, now $4,400
– Small Gabrielle Backpack, was $3,000, now $3,300
– Medium Gabrielle Backpack, was $3,300, now $3,800

As for the Chanel Boy Bag, which is said to be next on the Chanel price increase list, what shoppers are hearing is another $400 price increase. We will keep you posted when that should happen—some say around March—but if you’re interested in a Boy Bag, now is your chance to grab it before it too goes up in price.
