Since 2002, Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collections have brought together an array of experts who are masters in their field, all united to create a collection that celebrates the incredible skills of Chanel’s artisans.
No detail is left untouched, from the most minor intricacies to the largest; the creation of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art collection unites embroiderers, feather workers, goldsmiths, pleaters, shoemakers, milliners, and more.
Of course, this means that the collection features some of the most artful elements and jaw-dropping details of any Chanel collection. This year, with Matthieu Blazy making his Métiers d’Art debut, the collection is as ornate as ever. Still, in a way that feels modern, wearable, and entirely new—and it all started with a journey to the New York City Subway.
Blazy’s Modern Take on Chanel Heritage
When the train pulled into the MTA’s Bowery station, the doors opened to reveal the latest from Blazy—his second showing as Creative Director of Chanel. True to the many archetypes that frequent the New York City subway, the looks offered a little bit of everything.
Elevated takes on denim and officewear gave way to ornate evening wear and a bevy of matching separates. Each look tells its own story, like a set that looks like denim at first glance, but upon further inspection is actually silk—lingerie denim—as Chanel calls it, finished with detailed embroidery.
Inspiration spans decades, from 1920s flapper-esque silhouettes to the bias-cut slips of the ’30s and 2020s modernism. Blazy expertly travels through time, all in a beautiful palette of bold reds, bright yellows, oranges, and neutrals alike. Plus, there was leopard! Lots of it!
The Bags: Whimsy, Craft, and New Classics
The bags too, offer a little bit of everything (though Vogue Runway and Chanel have yet to release full sets of detail images). There are oversized clutches which feel fresh and contemporary as well as many new takes on the iconic Chanel flap.
For those who love novelty, there were plenty of whimsical moments, including jeweled minaudières that paid homage to New York, such as one shaped like an apple and another in the form of a takeaway coffee cup. Animal-inspired Flap Bags offer a hint of the mystical, fitted with gold feet and animal heads.
Animal print extended to the bags as well—there was a maxi leopard jacquard flap bag and an adorable pony hair cheetah Chanel 25. Suede, too, continued to rule this season on flap bags and new shapes alike. View more from Chanel Métiers d’Art 2026 below.

Many people seem to overlook the significance of this collection, which is a blend of beauty and chaos that captures the essence of New York—glitz, glamour, and sometimes the subjective ugliness. While it may come across as somewhat messy, this collection actually embodies inclusivity by redefining the concept of the “Chanel girl.” Keyboard critics are blind to the fact that Blazy is showing us a diverse range of styles, from classic tweed Chanel skirt suits with teased French updos to casual jeans and quarter-zips, and even the elegance of a hijab, emphasizing that every woman can resonate with the spirit of Chanel. Ultimately, this collection invites us to embrace our individuality while finding our place within the iconic framework of Chanel, making it a powerful statement about diversity and representation in fashion. Bravo Matthieu!
I don’t think there are any keyboard critics (posts are complimentary) here but you sound like a Chanel PR person/or someone who used AI to draft this effusive comment.
Complimentary or not, plenty of people are criticizing this collection across the fashion community—you don’t have to look far. And no, I’m not PR, nor do I need AI to form an opinion. I wrote my comment because I actually have one. If it came across as too articulate for you, that’s hardly my problem.
My interpretation was less articulate and more sycophantic….”the collection invites us to embrace our individuality” sure made me laugh!!
You don’t have to agree, but laughing at something you don’t understand isn’t much of a critique. 😂😂😂😂
No I’m sure I don’t have your elevated level of intelligence….
Clocked them. 🤏🤏🤏🤏
I’m really not feeling this… especially knowing the price point!
Wow, many very down to earth items that I would buy and wear for years. Nothing against ball gowns, many of us just do not have the need for them. Some pretty flap bags too!
Overall it was awful. Blazy isn’t right for Chanel.
Lovely pieces but I’m sure prices will be crazy so it’s a no from me. Value my $$ more these days.
What a stunning collection, it makes Chanel feel fresh! Which is not something i’ve ever said.
Dear heavens, the Chanel flat bag with the animal heads and feet is one of the most tacky and ugly things I have ever seen. I feel embarrassed for the designer and anyone that would carry this hideous abomination
Wonderful collection. I loved all the pieces!
I really didn’t think you could make chanel bags look and feel fresh ever again. but they did it. the clothes also felt a lot more chanel this time around. obsessed!
I prefer Matthieu at Bottega.
It’s been a while since I’ve been excited for a new Chanel collection. I love the pieces! Already had my SA earmark pieces of RTW and bags for me! It’s such a wearable collection!
There are actually some pretty cool pieces in here. I see a couple of shoes and outfits I would actually wear! (Barring price, of course.) I really like this direction for Chanel, vs. Virginie, whose collections were imo too… fussy frilly pastel grandma. Interesting that he’s bringing in a lot of 1920s vibes with this.
Also, the peanut bag made me laugh. XD
There is nothing significant about this collection or the one before it. True Chanel Aficionados do not need to find their spirit. They never lost it. We know exactly who we are and know that these collections do not represent the essence of the brand. #allovertheplace. Unfortunately, as there is a need to appeal to ‘Generation Gauche’, and to make the brand more accessible (for those who did not understand the appeal of Chanel’s DNA to begin with), we can look forward to a few more hideous-looking collections disguised as diverse for the masses. Hoping it’s just a fleeting phase.
It’s nice to see a modern collection from Chanel.
That flap bag that looks like a Chanel tweed jacket is pretty wild.
BIG TIME love/hate with this collection. I love some of the most wearable casual pieces. Other are downright hideous and will become dated in no time (yes, I feel some Chanel is dated). My right to an opinion, so please do not come for me 🙂
