It’s been well over two years since Hedi Slimane debuted his first bag design for Celine on the arm of Lady Gaga, and despite the roar heard around the world the line remains to be a big push for the brand. Though Lady Gaga herself still loves the original (the star was recently spotted with her black 16 in tow at the presidential Inauguration), the brand released a soft iteration over the summer and is back with another update for spring 2021. Introducing: the Celine 16 Bucket.
Aside from the now-iconic Celine 16 turnlock, the Bucket bares little resemblance to the original structured shape, allowing this new silhouette to speak to consumers who may not be original fans of the 16 line. The simple, yet sleek bucket bag is stylish, but classic and is the perfect size for the everyday. Currently the Bucket 16 is only available in one size, but there are two leather options: grained calfskin and smooth calfskin. Both options are lined in leather and feature a removable zipped pocket, a top handle as well as a longer strap for crossbody or shoulder wear that’s also removable.
It’s worth noting that this shape does not have a top zip and the only closure on the bag is the instantly recognizable gold-tone 16 turnlock. Overall dimensions of the Celine 16 Bucket are 9″W x 10″L x 9″D, which retails for $2,400 in grained leather and $2,650 in smooth. Though this bag is incredibly understated and simplistic in design, its clean lines make this a coveted new addition to Celine’s growing 16 line. Shop now via Celine.
