Celine Winter 2024 Is an Ode to the 60s and the Golden Age of Celine

La Collection De L’Arc De Triomphe also marks the birth of Celine Beauté

The Celine Triomphe logo is one of the brand’s most important motifs, and its history goes back to the brand’s earliest days.

You’ve probably heard the story before, which dates back to 1971. Founder Celine Vipiana found herself stranded on Place de l’Étoile after her car broke down by the Arc de Triomphe. She noticed the chain link that encircled the iconic Parisian monument and was instantly inspired.

She quickly adopted her own version, which would become the brand’s monogram.

Nearly 50 years later, Hedi Slimane arrived at Celine, quickly finding his footing. He offered a contemporary, modern approach to the Celine brand while reviving one of the House’s most important parts of its history: the Triomphe. The emblem has once again become synonymous with the Celine brand, reappearing season after season.

For Winter 2024, Slimane returns to the Arc de Triomphe with his latest collection, La Collection De L’Arc De Triomphe.

A Look at La Collection De L’Arc De Triomphe

The collection’s name makes a lot of sense, as its inspirations look back to the golden age of Celine: the 1960s. Pieces recapture some of the brand’s early years, featuring elevated fabrics like hand embroidery and mod shapes like dresses, skirts, and two-piece sets. Felt caps offer a distinct air of the era, while faux fur (Celine has a strict no-fur policy) takes looks to the next level.

The collection, which dropped on film yesterday, also marks the birth of Celine Beauté, with models wearing the collection’s lipstick in a nude hue.

Further expanding upon Hedi Slimane’s Haute Parfumerie collection, which launched fragrance at the House for the first time in over 50 years, Celine’s first-ever line of cosmetics will launch later this year.

Celine Beauté will include an extensive collection of lipsticks, mascara, lip balm, eyeliner, nail polish, and more. The full range was created with the brand’s roots in mind, and the entire design process took place last year with attention to detail on everything from the product to the bottles and cases.

The Bags of Winter 2024

Speaking of newness, the collection sees a range of bags offering new interpretations of the classic Triomphe, which will remain a staple through fall and beyond. Launching on supple and patent calfskin, two new boxy Triomphe shapes are a focus this season, designed as true complements to the RTW.

The Teen Nino, a ladylike top handle flap, refreshes the Triomphe logo, while the Teen Garance offers the distinct shoulder bag appeal we know and love in a new square shape with a longer strap.
