In 2003, Hedi Slimane documented youth culture in London and Paris. His photographs have been an integral part of his design process and aesthetic over the years, and further influences from the music, fashion, and culture scene have become integral to his work.
For Celine Summer 2025, Slimane returns once again to those influences, recalling the youthful, carefree spirit with an air of French elegance that he captured during that time. Dubbed Un Été Français, which translates to “A French Summer,” the collection is deeply inspired by Slimane’s study of youth culture and his love affair with summers by the sea in Saint Tropez.
Ready-to-wear features nods to those images taken in the early 2000s. Babydoll dresses are handcrafted and embroidered with sequins, feathers, and other embellishments—a modern update to the minis worn by scene girls deep in the British concert scene. Meanwhile, schoolgirl style is revisited, with the return of boarding school separates like pleated skirts and lightweight summer cashmeres, all with a modern edge.
The Bags of Celine Summer 2025
As for the bags, the collection sees a range of new silhouettes, most notably the Teen Joséphine (featured above), which is made-to-order in Celine’s ateliers with options ranging from crocodile to lizard in shades of ruby, emerald and amber. Bearing a similar silhouette to the new Celine Garance, it can be worn over the shoulder or hand-carried and features new hardware.
Triomphe lovers will delight in new logo bags like the Celine Shoulder Bag, a new East/West Baguette style bag that is both sophisticated and sleek, and the Celine Diane Shoulder Bag. A ladylike new frame bag, dubbed the Celine Augustine Bag, is also introduced this season. It’s undeniably reminiscent of the Philo-era Celine Clasp bag.

I disagree I think it’s trying too hard to cater to the rich older money generation and on the opposite spectrum goes really young with unflattering baby dolls. Then the in-betweens are just not flattering. I’m a huge Celine fan but when they do more street wear. None of this resonates to me. There aren’t many new bags it’s mostly one bag with different colors and leathers. Do more innovated less huge bold metal logo it’s overplayed. Tone it down and do new designs especially with bigger shoulder Hobo bags like large romy with a new updated look and focus on quality of leather and craftsmanship we want handmade not machine made. Add minimal cute small silver and/or gold logo accents like vintage designs of theirs used to have.
it must be fun being you
The clothes are stunning 💓
I love the shoes! I’m such a scardy cat when it comes to spending £s on designer shoes. Bags are okay though!
Love all of this! And just saw that Hedi is leaving Celine and Michael Rider from Ralph Lauren is the new designer. Really hoping Hedi lands at Chanel!
