Nearly four years after his debut, Slimane has made his mark on the brand, tapping into a whole new generation of Celine fans and playing on fashion’s obsession with youth culture. Season after season, Slimane continues to hone in on his vision for the beloved brand, presenting a playful yet casual-cool aesthetic that is both fashionable and wearable at the same time.
Youth culture with touches of vintage references has always influenced Slimane’s work. And, as fashion as a whole has moved towards an obsession with the trends of today’s youth, Slimane’s stylistic tendencies are more relevant now than ever. Though his early collections were off to a rocky start, all that trepidation seems to have faded, and 2022 is the year of Celine.
The New, New Celine
Ahead of the upcoming (and much anticipated) Women’s Winter 22 collection, Celine icons LISA and Kaia Gerber have debuted a look at the new, new Celine. The fashion it-girls just debuted a new bag from the House, the Matelassé Monochrome Celine bag, a chain shoulder bag crafted from puffy matelassé leather with a bold CELINE Logo.
