Stars Closed Out November With New Favorites and Old Icons Alike

And the newest Emily in Paris star showed off a Givenchy It-bag of yesteryear...

Minni Driver Emily In Paris

While you were helping yourself to a second (or third) plate of Thanksgiving leftovers, celebs were out and about doing what they do best: carrying their best bags and looking good doing it. This week, celebs continued to favor their neutrals, but leave it to Dua Lipa to provide us with a bit of a reprieve from a sea of black.

Plus, as November wound down and December began, the temps started to drop, and stars brought out their best outerwear—hello Penny Lane coat! Let’s take a look!

Minnie Driver

Minnie Driver will appear in season 5 of everyone’s favorite love-to-hate/hate-to-love series, Emily in Paris. The new season premieres on Netflix later this month, which naturally means that Driver is making the press rounds to discuss her exciting new role. She was seen walking into ABC Studios for a visit to GMA with an old favorite—the Givenchy Nightingale!

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa enjoyed some downtime with family and friends while in Brazil for her tour. Lipa, who stopped in both São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, wore a bold red Alaïa Le Teckel shoulder bag. She channeled Brazilian Carnival with an embellished bra peeking out from her white button-up.

Rosalía

She’s just like us! Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía was spotted underground with a Valentino Nellcôte Shopper. The stylish singer offered her own ‘Subway Take‘ for the popular Instagram series by Kareem Rahma.

Tessa Thompson

Tessa Thompson kept it low-key for a stroll through SoHo, pairing beautiful burgundy loafers with a casual, yet undeniably cool all-black fit. Her full-length buttery leather coat paired perfectly with an under-the-radar Margiela tote.

Is anyone gonna talk about the bags or are we gonna get stuck on getting seconds and sweatpants and being offended by our president?! Please let’s not bring this sort of outside noise to purse blog. It’s bad enough that it’s taken over Instagram. Leave me one indulgence, please!
As for the bags, I love seeing bags that aren’t on my radar with links to go look for them.

“While you were helping yourself to a second (or third) plate” is really the kind of Y2K fat-shaming comment we don’t need.
I know the writer tries so hard to stay on trend, but this is really not up for renewal.

Pip

I didn’t take it as shaming, I thought it was cheeky and accurate for a lot of people. We went out with friends and while the majority ordered the Thanksgiving feast I had a nice dry aged filet mignon, one other in our group opted for a chicken dish. A few took home leftovers, myself included, although I shared mine with my 15 year old dog. Maybe you can recommend someone based in France to submit articles for Purseblog. It would be fun to have a different perspective.

LaFrenchLady

Thanks for the message, that’s indeed the idea.

I suppose here in Europe women, especially in France, especially if you partly grew up in the late 2000, got really fed up (pun intended) with all the body-shaming, fat-shaming, fitness injunctions you found in the media at the time.
You would not start an article like that anymore, would certainly not be regarded as fun or entertaining.

whatwasthat

Honey you are too sensitive for this. Have some sense of humor please, or French people do not take jokes ?

Eos

On the contrary, we have amazing jokes about what it takes not to be mediocre.

Bryn

shaming everyone about everything and taking the air out of the room for real issues is how we got the current president. well done.

Athena

Yes, agree. “French lady “‘and every kook like her is exactly (one of the many reasons )why I , and the majority of the country ; voted for the current president .
in deed well done

I hear what you’re saying, and of course, we’re not in the business of shaming anyone; that’s never our tone or intention. But in this case, I really think the interpretation is a stretch. The line was meant to be a simple, relatable contrast: most of us are at home in sweats, going back for another serving, while celebrities are out getting photographed. That’s all. I was definitely home, eating leftovers, and wearing sweats myself!

I didn’t read it as anything deeper than that, just a light, everyday visual. I appreciate you speaking up, even if I don’t think the line crosses into shaming!

LaFrenchLady

I appreciate that you took time to answer.

I would like to point out something that seems to constantly be dismissed by Purseblog: not all readers are from the US, and regarding Thanksgiving, not everyone living in the US has reasons to rejoice.

I do believe you are alienating yourself from the rest of the world by being so focused on only one culture, especially at this critical time.
Sure this is the culture you know best, but we are still in a globalised system, unless perhaps this is a conscious choice on your part.

There is a reason Sajid’s articles are so popular, and it is not just his style: his perspective is refreshing, and devoid of clichés.

Colie

It’s not that deep

Megs Mahoney Dusil

Thank you for taking the time to write back. I really do appreciate hearing how things land from different readers.

To clarify a bit about our perspective: PurseBlog is a US-based publication, and much of what we share reflects our day-to-day lives and the moments happening around us. That has always been part of our voice and what longtime readers have connected with. It does not mean we expect everyone to relate to every reference or cultural moment. It simply means we write from our own lived experiences.

At the same time, it is very important to us to bring in different viewpoints, locations, and backgrounds. Writers like Sajid are such a big part of that, and we love what his perspective brings to the site. It keeps the conversation more global.

We will always work to balance a mix of voices, while still keeping the authenticity and personal angle that make our content feel real and not overly filtered.

Lisa

By the way, you are guilty of being a terrible influence on me…LOL!! Just bought myself a gorgeous pre-loved Nightingale bag. It’s been on my wish list for a few months!! Thanks for the nudge;)

Megs Mahoney Dusil

Haha!! Well, I aim to help you make purchases that make you happy!! I am HAPPY for you!! Enjoy her!

Annie

I hear you, but don’t necessarily agree that “celebrities were out getting photographed”; albeit, I would agree that some, but not celebrities as a whole. From what I read online many were home with friends and family celebrating, and perhaps going back for more of the delicious, decadent food that many ppl enjoy. Thanksgiving and Christmas, for me, are the 2 days when food is over consumed, but many, myself included, promise to hit the gym afterwards. However, I do agree that her statement doesn’t rise to the level of shaming. I’ve also observed that many times she is ridiculed in her wardrobe choices and writing style. She must be of strong character to withstand the unfair onslaught of negativity directed at her.

Annie

I apologize, I should have been clearer since I was referencing Kaitlyn, who was the author, not Megs. Although, Megs does receive an unfair amount of negativity, too. However, both rise above their “critics” and respond with maturity, dignity and grace.

Annie

This is a response to Lisa, not myself. 😉

Lisa

I agree. People need to take a very deep breath and really think about how they are reacting to someone or something before unleashing on them. I think Ms. French Lady’s post is completely out of line. You should consider who wrote the article before taking such a negative stance on it. Megs is so sweet and fabulous and as far as the way she dresses (which I personally adore), to each their own. As she has many times stated, if everyone was the same we would all be robots. Get a GRIP French Lady!!

LaFrenchLady

Megs did not write the article.

Just A Girl

I ate those multiple serving! Totally related! Some people just don’t know how to smile at the world. Please keep writing as you do. LaFrenchLady appears to be hypersensitive. The rest of us smiled and enjoyed your post.

Lisa

Mine too 🙂

What’s wrong with today’s generation where ppl are getting offended over everything and need to create a scene? The sentence was here as an ice breaker- nothing ill intention

Charlotte

Exactly!! Everyone needs to lighten up and know we are all blessed to even be able to enjoy such indulgences, both culinary and high fashion!
