Debuting earlier this year, the Bottega Veneta Liberta bag put the House’s smooth leather on the map. Known for decades for its iconic Intrecciato leather, creative director Matthieu Blazy put a continued focus on Bottega Veneta’s heritage and craftsmanship with the release of the Liberta bag, but in an entirely new way.
Initially introduced for Winter 2024, the Liberta debuted alongside other smooth leather bags like the Andiamo and the Hop, all part of the smooth leather series. Rooted in heritage, the smooth leather collection explores the brand’s DNA pre-Intrecciato leather. Stripping down the bags allows for an intimate look at Bottega Veneta’s attention to detail and leathercraft.
The Liberta bag felt like an immediate classic, combining the chic pouch silhouette with the functionality of a crossbody bag. Its defining detail evokes bags from the brand’s archive: a double flap and coaxial cord closure complete with a sculptural brass hook.
The Liberta Bag Gets a Makeover
It’s that distinct detail that remains consistent throughout the Liberta family, which expands for Resort 2025 with the addition of a bucket bag. The Liberta bag’s beauty comes from its smooth calfskin leather, which enhances with age.
Bucket bags have been one of 2024’s biggest trends, and the silky, smooth leather of the Liberta works really nicely with its simple shape. The shape is further accented by the Liberta’s classic coaxial cord closure. The Liberta Bucket bag, available in two sizes—small ($3,250) and classic ($3,900)—is available for pre-order now via Bottega Veneta.
