PurseBlog Beauty: 5 Products Amanda Tried and Loved in July 2017

Amanda tests things on her face so you don't have to

As I’ve mentioned before, I love beauty products. I love trying them and I love passing on the good ones to friends. If you’re not as keen on turning yourself into a guinea pig for Sephora’s new arrivals, let me be your guide.

Below, check out my favorite new things I’ve used this month, and if you want a rundown of my all-time faves, you can find that right here.

BioRepublic Aloe Rescue Revitalizing Fiber Mask
$5 via Bloomingdale’s

I’m always down to try a new sheet mask, and this one happened to arrive in one of my subscription boxes just in time for me to use it on a bit of summer sun exposure. It worked great—my face was immediately soothed and moisturized, and I ordered some backups to get me through the rest of the summer, should I again get stuck outside a little longer than intended. I’d imagine it would also work great for general soothing and moisturizing purposes, no matter the season.

Clinique Pop Oil Lip & Cheek Glow
$18.50 via Sephora

I have long hair, and although I like the shine of lip gloss, there’s always been one big problem: it’s so sticky, and my hair gets stuck in it. I had heard about lip oils but never got around to trying one until recently, and I’m really glad I did. They provide the shine and hint of color of a gloss but with a thinner and less sticky texture, and this one leaves my lips feeling well-moisturized.

First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Triple Protection Skin Tint with Goji Berry
$34 via Sephora

I wasn’t in the market for any new color cosmetics, but a friend who works for FAB sent me this skin tint when it launched recently and, hey, I’m always happy to try something new. I was a little suspicious when I squirted it onto my fingers—it feels sort of thin, and I’m used to the creamy, skincare-rich consistency of BB cream—but after I put it on and wore it for a day, I was a convert. My skin usually dries out by the end of the day and this didn’t feel particularly moisturizing when I applied it, but my face felt softer and more well-moisturized the longer I wore it. It also stayed in place like a champ and provided better and more buildable coverage than I expected, and a little goes a long way. The SPF is the icing on the cake. The color range is a bit limited, but hopefully it will expand if people like the product, and the two shades I’ve tried have been very blendable.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask
$45 via Sephora

I had heard good things about this product before I bought it, but I’ll be honest: I didn’t pay a whole lot of attention to what it did or why because it was so pretty and I just, like, wanted to own it. Luckily for me, it’s turned out to do exactly what it promises: leave my skin looking radiant and feeling plump and soft.

IGK Beach Club Texture Spray
$29 via Sephora

I love this product on two levels: how it works and how it smells. First, it’s an awesome texture spray for both freshly washed hair and hair that needs a little lift between washes. (I don’t believe in dry shampoo, and this helps give your hair some life without the powdery smell or dull finish, and it’s also the least sticky texture spray I’ve tried.) It also smells like you’ve spent a week at a very expensive, very Instagram-friendly beach resort, which is the best possible hair smell.
