Making its debut nearly 25 years ago, the iconic Balenciaga Le City was created by Nicholas Ghesquiere in 2001. It will be forever known for its maximalist appeal and distinct details.
It’s a bag that can truly do it all—toting your stuff from place to place while offering an unmistakable air of cool-girl appeal. It’s undeniably remained a staple for decades, and there’s no question of why—it was an icon then and is still one today.
With the return of its original design early last year, there’s no denying that the City is back, but really, it never left. The bag is as popular as ever, beloved by generations of handbag lovers, new and old. Now, a new City bag enters the chat, and it is the perfect combination of all things current.
Introducing the Balenciaga Le City East-West Bag
The east/west trend shows absolutely zero signs of slowing down anytime soon, with nearly every major designer hopping aboard the east/west express. Balenciaga joins the pack with the introduction of the Le City East-West, and we are obsessed because it is just SO good.
The City bag’s soft, slouchy, and oh so chic details translate well to the east/west silhouette, and if we thought the City was already cool, now it’s even cooler. It boasts Le City’s classic Arena Storico lambskin and rounded, thinner straps for shoulder wear, and it is finished with a knotted zipper pull (of course).
Arriving in army green, black, and sesame, this bag is fighting to be the It-bag of the season. Shop below and discover the full range of Le City via Balenciaga.

Do not like
I actually kinda love this. The regular City bag was always too big for me but this is the perfect size and I’m glad it has a more useable shoulder strap! Price is decent too.
