Are You an East/West Girlie?

I think I've finally been converted...

If you had asked me a mere two months ago if I was a fan of east/west bags, I would have told you no. I mean, maybe I was then, but I just didn’t know it…yet.

Then, I came across the Alaïa Le Teckel bag and wondered why I never gave this elongated silhouette a second look. It screamed chic when I first spotted it, and it still does now. Still, I thought maybe this was a one-off as the shape has never been one I’ve tended to gravitate towards.

Once again, wrong.

As if the internet was trying to play games with me, Khaite’s The Simona haunted my dreams after I got a good look at it on Moda Operandi during their Fall 2024 trunk show period. I finally realized that yes, I am an east/west girlie.

East Meets West Obsessed

Since its inception, Khaite has stayed true to designer Catherine Holstein’s less is more mentality, never straying far from its overall vision of clean, minimal designs. Khaite is feminine and fresh, and its handbags, which debuted in 2019, have echoed that sentiment.

With the continued trend towards simple yet sophisticated designs, the east/west bag is ready for its moment in the sun, and the Khaite Simona has me hooked with its refined, elongated shape and curved lines.

Currently available for pre-order on Khiate.com for $2,100. The Simona is similar in shape and size to the Alaïa Le Teckel bag with dimensions of 5″ L x 14″ W x 2.4″ D. Come fall, I’ll be carrying the chic silhouette of an east/west bag…will you?
