Although Balenciaga bags weren’t how my interest in accessories started, they played a big role in sucking me into a full-on obsession. It was the mid-2000s, and any fashionable woman who fancied herself the least bit edgy was at least considering adding one to her collection. Despite still being in college, I did more than consider–I bought.

My college job (selling appliances and TVs at the Athens, Georgia Best Buy; it was very glamorous) didn’t pay all that well, as you might imagine, but my living expenses were so low that the job did give me an opportunity to forage eBay for good deals. In the space of about two years, I had four Balenciaga bags and the thrill of designer acquisition had ruined me for life. I only have one of those bags still in my closet, and although I eventually moved on to other brands, the classic Balenciaga Motorcycle Bag still has a very special place in my heart.

I thought my days of wanting to buy Motos were well behind me, but a couple of seasons ago, Balenciaga decided to miniaturize its City into a crossbody version and managed to stir a little interest (as well as a little nostalgia) in me. Now that the brand is making the Mini City with its throwback Giant hardware, I’m just barely keeping up my resistance to the idea that I need to get back on the City Bag bandwagon. Based on how quickly colors of this bag seem to sell out, I’m not the only person with a reignited Balenciaga curiosity.

Below, check out some of the Mini City colors currently available. Of course, with Balenciaga, the colors are everything.

Yes! I wasn’t tempted by the Mini City until I saw a young woman carrying one the other day down here in Atlanta. It looked fantastic.

“the thrill of designer acquisition had ruined me for life”. LOL. Most of us have the same sentiment. I am glad what it did to you though since I enjoy reading your blogs.

Balenciaga bags seem over-rated. The insides seem so cheaply done. I wish the quality were better. They look attractive on some people, but I really don’t like the inside.

I had one Amanda but sold it. The zipper is a pain – it is not easy to get stuff in and out of this bag. The zipper doesn’t end at the edge of the bag when unzipped – it can come out of the bag and be a real pain (I am describing this very badly). Do have a good look at that before you buy one – it annoyed me so much that I sold it. I loved the colour, giant HW and leather ????

The regular City bags are the same way; it never bothered me with my old one because I left it open all the time, but I close my bags more carefully now since I ride the subway all the time. I wonder if it would bother me now.

I, too, don’t like the zipper with the “rabbit ears”. Does it go in or out?? I bought one a couple of years ago too and returned it because of this. Too bad, though cuz it’s really cute!!!

I bought one of these in Gris Pyrite with gold hardware and I love it to bits! It’s the perfect size and weight for a cross body bag and the hardware is beautiful.

I went to look at this 2 years ago wanting to buy but couldn’t do it, the leather was ok/average and the lining was not great either. By designer standards though, pricing is ok.

The prices for Balenciaga are just crazy nowadays! I own two Citys but will not buy anything else from them in the future. The bags look cute though!
