Spring 2026 marks the debut of Pierpaolo Piccioli’s first collection for Balenciaga, a recalibration of sorts, bridging the gap between the Balenciaga of yesteryear and the Balenciaga of the now. Piccioli has done a masterful job of melding past eras of the House with a contemporary ethos, drawing on the house’s core DNA for guidance.
The result is an incredible attention to detail and a distinct, yet modern, understanding of what women want to wear. The bags, too, echo this same sentiment, acting as the perfect complement to the ready-to-wear; they perfectly combine the past and the present.
Earlier this season, Balenciaga introduced Piccioli’s first bag debuts for Balenciaga—the Bolero and the Le 7 Shoulder Bag—and today, Piccioli’s take on arguably the most iconic Balenciaga bag of all time is here.

Introducing Le City, the Pierpaolo Piccioli Way
First seen on the Spring 2026 runway in Paris, the new Le City is updated to put an emphasis on lightness while reintroducing details that are distinct to a model from the archives.
These details include the rolled, hand-braided leather handles with cotton laces, a detachable shoulder strap with a padded shoulder for added comfort, and, most obviously, the iconic rectangular leather-framed hanging mirror.
With the PP upgrade comes new styles, including the Le City First, and luxe new materials like soft suede with leather accents and super-light calfskin lined with suede. Beautiful color choices include neutrals like black and moka calf suede, as well as ruby and deep navy blue.
Shop the entire Le City family now via Balenciaga.

Pierpaolo is doing a revival the right way. Love it!
That red is to die for ! Can’t stop thinking about it
Then you must treat yourself, buy it ☺️♥️
Great bag!
I love pp and can’t wait to see what he does
Great handbag ! I have two of the original one in black and one in red. Still look beautiful, the leather aged so well. So happy the old school handbag is back.
The city bag with the suede and smooth leather looks so LUSH, I’m drooling over it and I don’t even wear much brown!
SO glad I still have a few of mine. (What the two daughters haven’t borrowed, that is) The City and all its variations was the bag that started me on “Bag Syndrome” And there was quite a group of afficianados/collectors/shall I just say Bal fanatics? on The Purse Forum that I sorely miss!
So happy these have come back!
