Pierpaolo Piccioli is quickly carving out a new era for Balenciaga, one that honors the House’s storied past while introducing his distinctly romantic, modern sensibility.
Following his runway debut for the House last fall, Piccioli continues to explore that balance, revisiting elements of Cristóbal Balenciaga’s signature volumes, tailoring, and fluid draping while infusing them with contemporary touches of streetwear and athleisure.
A New Chapter for Balenciaga
The result is a collection that feels both rooted in Balenciaga’s DNA and distinctly Piccioli—and among it, a new bag that perfectly captures this evolving vision.
First seen in the brand’s Pre-Fall 2026 lookbook and later explored for Resort 2027, the Le 7 Bowling Bag marries the chic edge of Balenciaga with an of-the-moment cool-girl feel, and its innovative double construction has us coming back for a second look.
The Le 7 Bowling Bag Makes Its Debut
At first glance, the Le 7 Bowling Bag is simple and understatedly elegant. Its classic top-handle silhouette stands out thanks to its supple leather body and minimal branding. Its discreet gold-foil logo is a welcome change from Demna’s Balenciaga, while the distinct turn-lock closure, first used on the Rodeo, is a focal point.
Still, this bag is not as simple as it appears at first glance, and that’s what makes it so unique and interesting. The bag’s turn-lock closure and outer leather layers open to reveal a zip-top closure, allowing the bag to be worn entirely closed or relaxed and open, with its inner zipper exposed.
Cool Girl Energy, Practical Girl Construction
In the last few seasons, designers have continued to remind us that it’s what’s on the inside that counts, with a push toward bags shown worn open on the runway, many times with their contents spilling out. Still, Balenciaga’s version of this cool-girl, no-f**ks-given kind of bag is a bit more practical, its inner zipper keeping your bag’s contents secure.
Really, this bag is for the girl who offers up a “no worries!” to every major inconvenience while simultaneously having, well, many worries. It’s giving relaxed and cool, but practical and methodical at the same time.

This is heavily reminiscent of Prada’s Inside Bag, Fall 2015 which PB covered extensively at the time 🙂
Yes!! Our dear Sajid revisited the Prada Inside bag as well a couple of years back and Louis Vuitton also introduced a bag within a bag style on its Fall 2026 runway.
