Here in NYC, the temperatures make it truly feel like fall is finally in full swing. Other parts of the country, however, are still experiencing warm temperatures. We took a trip to LA’s popular hot-spot The Grove to see what people were wearing (and carrying) last month. The Grove is a mecca for LAs most-fashionable people, filled with shopping, dining, and lifestyle destinations, it’s also a popular spot for tourists and visitors to the area. A day at The Grove for bag-spotting yielded over two dozen snaps of some seriously enviable carries. From Balenciaga’s iconic moto bags to plenty of Louis Vuitton and more vintage bags than we could have dreamed of, check out the many bags we spotted at LA’s The Grove in October 2021. What city would you like us to head to next?!
The Bags

Just love seeing purses used by everyday people. That’s reality for all of us. Celebrities and influencers get a lot for free…many of us work hard for our bags, save up, inherit, look for resales. Relatable and I love the Grove.
I love the variety. Ordinary people just living. Carrying what they like, never imagining they would get photographed that day. True individualism & bags from all years, styles, & price points.
the majority of ladies pictured lack of style. an expensive bag does not make you stylish or upgrade your style if there is no sense of style to begin with. kudos to the ladies carrying the telfar and the prada panier bags for their outfits too.
I wonder what you would think about the celebrities that are dressed like these individuals who carry way more expensive bags. I personally love seeing posts like this. It’s very relatable. I carry my bags with whatever outfits I am wearing, to whatever stores I want to visit.
I think, for me, it’s not so much whether the bag is designer or not but more about styling the bag appropriately with your outfit. If the bag has a casual style and you’re dressed casually, it fits but if not then it looks awkward.
True. But the Prada panier and it’s wearer is a nice sight.
Really? Why does a woman/man have to dress up in order to carry a designer bag? Have you ever worn casual clothes with a designer bag? I have and it certainly doesn’t mean that I lack “style”.
Designer bags are always present in fashion editorials, in ”how to be stylish and fashionable elegant” lists etc. And some of this pics are the proof that owing a designer bag does not make you stylish at all. I do not judge any of that women. Just that these pics made me realize that owing an expensive bag does not mean that you have a good fashion sense.
Fashion and style is subjective. And yes you are judging the women.
Totally agree
I guess being from LA, the sight of women in very casual outfits with designer bags is extremely common so I don’t even bat an eyelash. But I can see how if you’re from say, NYC, they would think there’s a “lack of style”. It’s just much more casual here. If I wore what I wore while living in NYC, I would probably feel out of place in many areas where I frequent in LA. I’ve really embraced dressing more casually in LA. I prefer it now in fact, just much more easygoing and effortless.
Having said that, I don’t really use my fancier bags anymore because I think I just dress too casually now to warrant their use. I stick to mostly crossbody options.
Anyway, but who really cares when your style is whatever makes you comfortable 🙂
Same here and I’m on the west coast too. I actually thought a lot of the ladies had amazing style to compliment their bags.
If we were to compare a typical guest’s “style” at a fancy restaurant in SF and LA to NYC and Boston, it’d be super casual (designer bags and shoes being the common theme). “Style” depends on what you are comparing to and what’s fashionable in that area.
I like this post very much, it is fun to see bags/style (or lack of per Zoe) and the general public. It always makes me smile when I happen upon a stylish person out and about!
The bags are cute and I love love real people posts but some outfits are scary – isn’t Halloween over? 😉
Loving all of the vintage coach!
Love the LA street style posts! Hope to see more from LA.
Love the vintage bags! I have lots of vintage, so happy I still have them and can continue to use them.
Just picked up a gorgeous Balenciaga City bag…was really missing it from back in the day right now doing the leather condition/clean/re-conditioning process as I just got it yesterday so by Sunday I will be rocking it! Time to give my Speedy a rest…plus as much as I love small bags they just don’t work for me!
Can we bring back the Alexander Wang Rocco bag?!! Love it
I actually really like the Petit Malle Souple’s shape, but the dangling charm/tag is a deal breaker for me. The exact same thing in smooth leather without the dangle – would buy in a heartbeat.
