The thing about summer in the city is that the streets are packed with people at all times. I can’t tell you how many times I run to do an errand at lunch and wonder why on earth there are so many people out at 2pm on a Monday! “Doesn’t anybody work?” I’ll mumble to myself as I dodge a group of late twenty-somethings power shopping their way through the city (with a stop for a mimosa, of course). While yes, New York is filled with freelancers, small business owners who make their own hours, tourists, and of course, the *independently wealthy*, summer in the city also means that a lot of people take time off, or get out early from work on Friday afternoons.
This is great for us and our favorite sport: bag-spotting! Last week we saw a healthy dose of bags. We spotted our fair share of Louis Vuitton—both vintage and new, plus a few mystery bags on the streets of SoHo. It’s getting hot, hot, hot, and we also noticed that midriffs are making appearances, and hemlines are getting shorter. Stay cool and hydrated out there if you’re shopping in the city this summer!
