We started the week with a discussion of an Alexander Wang bag that literally did not work at all, so it’s only fitting that we end the week with one of Wang’s bags the works on almost every level – the Alexander Wang Marion Mini Flap Bag. I got a chance to play with this bag during the same trip to Barneys as the ill-fated Jade clutch, and the results were much more satisfying.

If this bag looks familiar, it’s because Bergdorf’s Twitter girl Cannon featured hers in last week’s What’s in Her Bag post, but this little shoulder bag is cool enough to merit its own, separate review. And this time, I couldn’t find a single problem.

This bag has several of the desirable design features of the Jade clutch, most notably the rose gold hardware and metal-capped corners, but without the accessibility issues created by the other bag’s structure. This bag closes with a hidden slide lock that’s pretty easy to operate once you know what direction you’re supposed to push, and the size is good for a purse that calls itself “mini.” It’s essentials-only, but not so much that you’ll have to make sure that you only take the credit cards and keys that you really, really need that day. Buy through ShopBop for $650.

I like the hardware and the angled flap. Thumbs up.

Oh, yes. This wins. I’d have a million uses for a bag like this, but the details ensure it’s not boring.

A really cool bag. Thumbs up also.

as i have one too many black bags (although i’m not sure what “too many” black bags means exactly) i really fell in love with this purse for the spring/summer in the “aloe” color. It’s a unique pairing with the rose gold but not so odd that it’s a turn-off. makes it a little more interesting than a white bag for the season.

I don’t like the corners. I would hate to put my kid’s eye out with that.

Yes, I agree – I think it looks a bit dangerous, too!

Also, I’m just not entirely sure that the quality is there, with this line?

I ike the rose gold colour of the hardware, though.

Love it! The shape is modern and the rose gold is the icing on the cake. Definitely nothing wrong with it.
