Badgley Mischka Platinum Label Erin Drawstring Bag

This past weekend was gorgeous here in San Diego. It was wonderful to get out and spend some time with friends. It’s always fun when I meet someone who is as obsessed with handbags as we are here at Team PurseBlog. When I get a chance to talk about what I do, what I love, I enjoy it thoroughly. Luckily, this exact situation came up this weekend. I was asked what is hot right now, and as you might be able to guess, one of the first things I mentioned was bucket bags. I am becoming more interested in this trend with each passing minute. So, I was a happy camper when I came across this fabulous Badgley Mischka creation.

Fendi Neoprene Laptop Case

We have a category for accessories that rarely gets used on PurseBlog. Apologies for neglecting a perfectly fitting category for our website. Today, that will change as I will bring you an accessory to discuss and make sure to continue bringing you designer accessories in the future.

The entire PurseBlog team has Mac Book Pro laptops that we do not allow to leave our sides. They are banged up, used, and used some more but I cannot say that they are mistreated. They simply are well-loved. I have the typical laptop case from Incase (Vlad and I both do). It is simple and rather boring, but gets the job done. I want something with more character and pizazz which is why the Fendi Neoprene Laptop Case caught my eye.

Juicy Couture Blue Blood Weekend Bag

Excuse me for a moment, I’m suddenly feeling quite nauseous. Based on the picture to the left, I’m sure you can all figure out why. I almost didn’t even want to post about the Juicy Couture Blue Blood Weekend Bag so that I wouldn’t have to be assaulted with its image every time I click over to PurseBlog Savvy, but I feel that it is such an egregious violation of good taste that something has to be said.

Everyone has seen the carts in the mall that sell thinly veiled Louis Vuitton knock-offs with slightly different monograms and “leather” trim that looks like its been covered in spray-tan, but I’m genuinely surprised that another high-end (or should we be calling them “high-end” with scare quotes at this point?) brand would pull the same stunt, particularly in a way that looks so unforgivably cheap.

Marc Jacobs Imogen Shoulder Bag

I’ve spent the past couple of days revisiting the Marc Jacobs Imogen Shoulder Bag several times, trying to decide what I think about it. Every time I open its product page to look at it again, my opinion lands somewhere in the chasm between “WTF” and “I see what they did there.”

I’ve decided that I don’t really think that this bag is attractive, which I suppose is a step toward figuring out what my overall opinion of it is. I do think it’s interesting to look at, however, and that may ultimately be more important than attractiveness when it comes to the demographic that Jacobs is trying to reach with this particular piece. Sometimes, having something that’s unlike what most people understand is the objective, even if it means stepping outside the normal bounds of aesthetic pleasure.

Treesje Strike Studded Crossbody Bag

I’m beginning to sound like a broken record player, so forgive me. But, crossbody and bucket bags are all the rage this season as well as seasons to come. So, it is no surprise that I have yet another crossbody bag to share with you. I don’t know about you, but there is something about a simplistic bag that makes me so happy. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I love a great eccentric bag as much as the next person, but there are days when I want a great bag without a lot of fuss. Thankfully, Treesje is a brand that continues to bring me bags I cannot get enough of.

Rebecca Minkoff Exclusive Saks Collection

After releasing a capsule collection for HSN, Rebecca Minkoff has decided to debut a luxury handbag collection exclusively for Saks Fifth Avenue this May. For its first collection, iconic Rebecca Minkoff bags such as the Nikki and Morning After bag are being refined in lizard skin and other luxe materials. Along with some of her well-known designs, Rebecca Minkoff is introducing new shapes to the line. Some of these include a drawstring bucket bag, oversized classic tote, and a side-saddle messenger bag.

I chose to partner with Saks to launch my collection line because of the timeless luxury and superior quality the store represents,” said Minkoff. “It is an exciting honor to join the list of exclusive luxury handbag designers available at Saks Fifth Avenue. Saks customers are already familiar with the current Rebecca Minkoff line and have been very supportive over the years. I am hoping to not only provide my existing customers with a more luxurious option, but to also tap into a new set of young Saks shoppers who purchase designer bags for the style and quality, not just the label.

Balenciaga Giant Brief

I think I’m the only person on the face of the planet who has a genuine distaste for blue. I didn’t realize that that was the case until I recently cleaned out my closet in an attempt to rid myself of things that I never wear, and I found myself left with a pile of blue clothing. Navy blue is one thing, but the blue I dislike tend to be any shade of medium or light blue, and baby blue in particular, which likely has something to do with my skin tone.

I’m not entirely opposed to the color, of course, but it has to be a really particular shade for me to want to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Luckily (or perhaps unluckily, depending on how you look at it) for me, this Balenciaga Giant Brief is exactly that color. I was dubious until I saw someone toting a City of the same color at Neiman Marcus recently, and laying eyes on it in person removed any shred of doubt that I have left. That Balenciaga can make me like a medium shade of blue is really a testament to their mastery of brights.

Anya Hindmarch Ipanema Straw Clutch

I can think of no better bag to talk about on a sunny, warm late April morning (side note – how did we already manage to get to late April??) that a cute straw clutch. Come to think of it, it’s also Friday – the first night of the weekend, and therefore the first night of the week that you’re likely to need a clutch by your side.

All that considered, the timing of the Anya Hindmarch Ipanema Straw Clutch couldn’t be better. It’s look may be just a hair too serious-summer to be worn yet in cooler climates, but down south where I am, we’ve had pool weather for at least the last month – you’d think it was already July. The more sunshine I see, the more I want something like this to carry around.

Cole Haan Halsey Straw Clutch

This is cute. And you know what? I like cute. It’s a funny day because when I think about my taste in handbags I realize that I am all over the place. Some days I complain about a certain thing and other days I say I like that. I guess my mood is one that changes on a whim. But, hey, that’s actually fine by me. I feel like if I came across this Cole Haan Halsey Straw Clutch on a different day, I might not like it. However, today, well, today I like it.

Valentino Raised-Rose Tote

First, thing first: Amanda’s going to kill me for writing about this bag before she does. Ok, now that I’ve stated what you PurseBlog readers might already know, I can move on.

As soon as I saw this Valentino Raised-Rose Tote I knew I had to write about it. I mean, look at it! It is such a statement piece. Typically I consider evening bags to be more “statement piece-y” than larger bags. But this time, let’s call a spade a spade and agree that it is a statement piece. If you reach into your closet and come out with this bag as the one you are going to carry, you know you are making a statement – a fashionable statement.
