Confession: I don’t carry a wallet. I haven’t in years, perhaps even since college. In my bag, I have a slim Proenza Schouler billfold for cash and a Marc Jacobs card case that’s attached to my keys, and because I’m something of a minimalist when it comes to what I put inside my handbag, I usually leave it at that. I did not inherit this trait from my mother, who carries no fewer than four wallets at a time, but I feel as though I’m qualified to pontificate on the subject anyway. She raised me, after all.
Yesterday, a friend asked if I had any leads on a good wallet under $300 that would hold all the essentials, and I realized that, actually, I didn’t. That seemed to mean that I was in dereliction of duty as an accessories writer, so I set out on the journey to the perfect (and perfectly accessible) wallet yesterday, and this is what I found. These wallets are all “long” or “continental” – the most space for your wallet dollar, as it were. If you prefer something more compact, the good news is that basically all these brands make similar styles in a smaller footprint. Check out the spoils of my search below.
