Zufi Alexander is a handbag designer that is still working her way into the scene. Her bags have been seen on the likes of Katherine Heigl and were part of a fabulous giveaway on Purse Blog. The Zufi Alexander Kiss Me Baby style is memorable, offering structure without overdoing it. I will have to come back to the Kiss Me and look into it again, but right now the Zufi Alexander Y Clutch in pink eel has my heart. And the stunning Alicia Keys carried this clutch to the 20th World Music Awards on November 9th. Her choice of sleek eel skin in a stunning pink hue was paired perfectly with her purple gown. In fact, I can not stop staring at the beauty of her outfit. It truly is a stunning combination. And the clutch, LOVE! Eel skin is a fascinating skin on handbags. Today I got an email with a complaint about us covering Gossip Girl on Purse Blog. Ok, I see your point. This is a handbag website and covering a TV show that is not about handbags may seem a bit off topic. But you must give it to Gossip Girl for having some of the most bold, fun, young, hip, and daring styles! And one of the things that Gossip Girl stylist Eric Daman does best is accessorize the characters.

This week we found Blair Waldorf, Leighton Meester, carrying around a classic yet hip crocodile tote. This tote is one of my favorites, as it is a Sang A Bag. We have covered Sang A on Purse Blog before and I have loved her different uses of materials, modern lines, and sleek styles. The River Tote has been the bag on my lust after list (in YELLOW PYTHON!). Blair Waldorf carried a different version of the River Tote, and I must admit that I am in love!

The bag signifies tradition, elegance, and class while being able to be worn by a young 20 year old and not look old. This is a first, the first time we have spoken about Roger Vivier. But Vivier, known as the “Fragonard of the shoe”, has created some of the most important shoes of the 20th century, including in the 1950’s when he invented the stiletto heel. As earlier mentioned, Purse Blog and Luxaholics will now be working together to bring you some great handbags seen on celebs. This being our first post, we wanted to pick a handbag we knew would spark a little debate. If you are like most of us, you anxiously await to watch The Hills every Monday. You crave the drama between the girls and you want to see who is going to back-stab who this week. If you are a bit older, seemingly beyond the drama-infused years, you lie about watching The Hills, but still do. Another thing we all do is look at the style of the girls, buy the celeb magazines, and follow up on our favorite celeb websites daily. For some reason you all, and of course we, are obsessed with celebrity style. Doesn’t mean we are going to go out and try to emulate it the next day, but we love to see what celebs are wearing, especially the girls from The Hills.

I just got done watching an episode of one of my absolute favorite shows, Gossip Girl. You may recall, I was planning to do a recap of every episode like I do for Project Runway, but gathering the pictures and IDing the fashions in a timely manner proved to be harder than expected, so I scrapped that idea recently (which made me very sad!).

Gossip Girl is still one of the most fashion-forward and style-conscious shows on television, so from time to time, when I spot something particularly fabulous on the series, I’ll post about it.

Today’s feature is a bit of a throwback, and a good example of how things can often look much more interesting when worn than they do in pictures online. I spotted the Foley + Corinna Jet Setter Jr. Tote in cream leather worn by Lydia Hearst on the first season finale, and it immediately seemed much more chic than I expected. I’m usually not a huge fan of “north-south” shaped totes, particularly those meant to be worn in the crook of the arm. To me, they can easily look awkward, but the Jet Setter tote looked like it would be the perfect size on a normal-sized woman (Ms. Hearst, as you can see, hardly exists).

This season, Foley + Corinna has made the bag in a gorgeous bright blue patent that is wearable in virtually any season, and as you probably have realized by now, I’m an enormous fan of patent (or, possibly, just easily distracted by shiny things). The color is very saturated and even, which is only highlighted by its beautiful sheen.

The new bag of choice for Katie Holmes? Well it is an interesting Fendi number that can clearly be loved or hated quite easily. Katie Holmes was spotted out sporting a funky cross-body bag, the Fendi Snakeskin F3 Secret Code Bag. I gave a bland and blah review to See by Chloe Bags a month ago. On the particular See by Chloe Bags I reviewed, you all mostly agreed. The bags lacked any design innovation; they merely looked like colored leather stitched into a sac. So should I take back what I said now? Because the See by Chloe line is more expansive and the See by Chloe Daytripper Bag is the new go-to bag for many celebs. Salvatore Ferragamo Apollonia Bag

Salvatore Ferragamo is a brand known for its ready-to-wear and picturesque shoes (that are divinely comfortable might I add). The shoes are statement pieces that stand on their own immaculately. But the handbags from Salvatore Ferragamo are not as well known as the shoes, but they should be. While I have not loved every Ferragamo bag, I have found an ultimate drool-worthy bag from the company, one so lovely that it is officially on my want/need list. The Salvatore Ferragamo Apollonia Bag radiates this sort of subtle perfection, this simplistic look that just has me infatuated. This bag stands out and has a different look to its exotic body, seeing as it is made with black and white hardwick, which is a type of huge reticulated python that weighs in at over 200 lbs. The skin does look different, very uniform, very patterned. But for me, it flows wonderfully. And who was caught wearing this bag? None other than refined simplicity herself, Reese Witherspoon. The picture of Reese carrying this bag only sealed the deal for me, putting it on a person and showing me how beautiful it is!
