Totally Terrific: Tory Burch Robinson Tote

I have been test-driving the Tory Burch Robinson Tote for the past few weeks and fallen in love with it. Tory’s accessory collection continues to grow and offer fun and functional designs. The over-sized logo has been toned down making the bags perfectly Tory without being overly in-your-face.

This collection has so many aspects to praise, starting with the sturdy and durable leather. The body of the bag keeps shape easily but is not overly stiff. In fact, if you are looking for a work bag or a perfect mother’s day gift, the Robinson Tote should be added to your list of potential options.

The inside of the bag features storage pockets and a zipper center compartment, which adds a usable separation space. I also love that the bag is not overly heavy which is very important when it comes to wearability.

My tote is blue which is more subdued in hue than it appears in these photos, but it is not a bland and safe blue, rather a gorgeous neutral blue that really shines in proper sunlight. I think it was inspired by the Prada Saffiano Lux totes. The shape and, although I can’t be 100% sure from the pictures, the leather treatment seems similar, too. How does it compare with the Prada, Megs?

I like the color. The bag is pretty basic.
As far as a previous poster talking about the site being neutral, I haven’t seen that. How can one be neutral while reviewing anything? That doesn’t even make sense to me.
People, even everyday people like me, are given products to test drive and then give opinions. It’s not just handbags, I have done diapers, lotion, food products, etc. The whole point is for the producers to know from consumers what works and doesn’t so that they can improve upon the products.
Besides, I have read here where the reviewers blast designers that they love if the handbag is truly just not good.

  I was having a bad day and regret the post, but there was something about “test-driving” a very plain tote that really did bother me – how long would that take? I’m a restaurant reviewer – it would be completely unethical to accept a free meal – not because it would color my objectivity, but it would color people’s perception of my objectivity, if the review was favorable. The negative reviews are never a problem…
  I guess I just like/put more stock in Amanda’s and Megs’ spontaneous reviews of their department store or runway finds. And, I wish Tory would send me a tote to test drive… envy is just not pretty.

    It is ok Sue – makes complete sense. Many websites ask for free product often but we never do that. However, sometimes designers send us bags as a gift and then I like to give an honest review of the bag if I have it. I never have a problem being truthful about how I feel though – and majority of every bag Amanda and I own were purchased by us :)

I love the navy-it’s truly blue and not that almost black some brands put out. I love the clean lines and the functionality. I don’t think it’s available in the navy through the link-I guess I need to try to find it elsewhere.

Have seen this in person and love it. I’ve seen the small size in an orange-red color, and I wish the larger size came in that color too. I’ve been hunting for the perfect black tote for work, so that’s probably the color I’ll end up with. Boring, I know…but classic. Thanks, Tory, for designing some bags with a smaller logo.

It really pains me to say this, but this is very boring. But, what pains me more to say is that IMO, the quality of Tory Burch bags has declined considerably. I think this is a result of how many styles are now churned out. If I remember correctly when TB first started producing handbags the selection was quite small and much better quality. Are they made in China as well? I can’t remember…

You know what? This reminds me of the Hermes Birkin sort of – I know of course it’s not the same, but the shape is kind of similar, so it reminds me of it in the best way. I really like this bag for its classic shape and the colour is gorgeous!

I agree with gpc. I purchased a Tory bag last year and the leather is already completely worn.

I just saw this bag in the store, and the material is a complete knockoff of Prada’s saffiano leather. I just happened to have my Saffiano bag with me then (complete coincidence) and was able to make a comparison. It’s a pretty good knock off, but it the TB leather seems a little plasticky in comparison.

Even if it were as good as the Prada, though, I still wouldn’t. A knockoff is a knockoff.
