Every band that goes for the gusto when it comes to sequins makes a misstep here and there; the line between chic and tacky is so precarious when it comes to a material as shiny and in-your-face as sequins, and the statistical probability of an occasional screw-up is high when you make as many paillette-covered bags as Coach does. Luckily for all of us, the Coach Poppy Sequin Mini Field Bag isn’t a mistake at all.

The best part of this bag is obvious: the subtle color is much more interesting and delicate than what we usually see when sequins are involved, and that makes all the difference. It shifts between light silver and baby blue seamlessly, and I’m sure it would be even more impressive in the light. Silver leather trim and dark hardware keep the bag grounded and useable as a casual piece, and for someone with an eccentric personal style, I could see this bag working on both a casual weekend and a night out. While this bag is really well done, I still have trouble loving the concept of sequins for daytime and casual use. It’s not that I hate it on other people, I just feel that I couldn’t pull it off given my personal style. Don’t get me wrong, I carry some really beautiful bags. Some of my bags have serious color pop. I’m just stuck in the “sequins are evening wear” mind set. I guess my age is showing! lol

This bag. I love it so much. The contrast between the unisex shape and the girly sequins. If it came in a pale gold or a red I’d probably buy one.

Because sequins are so fragile, I only purchase inexpensive “disposable” items adorned with them. Once the sequins start coming off, I stop carrying or using the handbag.

i agree!! Once the sequins fall off…I’m done. I bought this bag in Coach with the C logos in a gorgeous blue & white—you HAVE to see the picture to do it justice! I bought it at a great designer money saver place called Sheer Beauty Bare Minerals. Its a great place to save money one this bag is wwww.sheerbeautybareminerals.com & other designer bags.

I think this fun little number would fit perfectly well in a style of a young girl with a hint of attitude. With its fairly subdued colors and a traditional Coach design, it looks quite neutral and not overpowering, which I think is a good thing.

The colour of the sequins here is beautiful. Paired with silver leather…nice!

I love the sequins. I guess since I’m from TX, and we wear diamonds in the daytime, sequins is definitely okay.
Coach has well made handbags so I don’t think that anyone should have a fear of them coming off. Personally, I would rather have a handbag version of this mini bag.

I had the green version of this bag and it was soooooo cute, but the strap was a little short for me to use crossbody. It fell right under my chest. Also, I felt it was a little young for me, and more appropriate for my little sister. However, they are gorgeous in person!

Indeed they do! I have the Coach Poppy Occasion Sequin Pouch in grape soda, and it is also very lovely.

I didn’t like it at first (and I have been staring at it on the Coach site a lot lately!) but the casual style and hefty hardware are growing on me, I can see working it on the weekend with a cute outfit!

I think the silver leather makes it look very cheap…

For those concerned about the sequins coming off, I’ve had a coach sequin bag since the very first poppy sequin bags came out several years ago. I use it on a regular basis and I have never had a problem with the sequin coming off. It is WELL constructed.
