I think I’m the only person on the face of the planet who has a genuine distaste for blue. I didn’t realize that that was the case until I recently cleaned out my closet in an attempt to rid myself of things that I never wear, and I found myself left with a pile of blue clothing. Navy blue is one thing, but the blue I dislike tend to be any shade of medium or light blue, and baby blue in particular, which likely has something to do with my skin tone.
I’m not entirely opposed to the color, of course, but it has to be a really particular shade for me to want to incorporate it into my wardrobe. Luckily (or perhaps unluckily, depending on how you look at it) for me, this Balenciaga Giant Brief is exactly that color. I was dubious until I saw someone toting a City of the same color at Neiman Marcus recently, and laying eyes on it in person removed any shred of doubt that I have left. That Balenciaga can make me like a medium shade of blue is really a testament to their mastery of brights.
This particular Balenciaga shape may be too big for some people, but when you take out the stuffing and allow it to slouch, I think it’s pretty great. The proportion works particularly well with the giant silver hardware, which is my favorite of the brand’s four major options. I don’t wear much (or any) denim, and this shade (which is much richer in real life than in the photo) would probably contrast nicely with my normally black-heavy outfits. Perhaps I should reconsider blue’s role in my life and wardrobe. If only every blue were a Balenciaga blue…Buy through BlueFly for $1276.

It does look a bit large for me personally, but I have to agree that they nailed it with the shade of blue here. I do wear more denim than you said you do, so I might have to be careful not to overdo the blue, but that doesn’t take away from how beautiful this bag is on its own. (fb)

How funny that you lack blue in your wardrobe I too lack blue in mine as well. I never noticed this before until my boyfriend who is a cop moved in together and I started doing our laundry, all he wears is blue and I only have one tshirt that is blue. I like blue, but for some reason feel that I can’t pull it off because of my pasty white skin my skin is so white you can see my blue veins so I guess I don’t want to draw attention to that by wearing blue. However, I love this blue color it is just perfect and it isn’t the color of my veins

Amanda, for some reason I don’t wear much blue either (except for jeans) but shirts, I usually opt for something else.
That said, I do think this bag is gorgeous and this shade of blue is stunning. I love the shape, the 2 handles, the zippered pocket on the front and the detail. If I had a budget for high end bags, I think I would go for this one.

I love a brighter blue ( not electric blue ) w/ black or turquoise blue colors, but i agree baby blue is hard to pull off etc– not very versatile!– navy is tough for me– i always find myself buying navy clothes and then struggling w/ shoes/ handbag etc- i finally realized a bronze colored shoe looks okay w/ my navy summer things– anyway I think i would have to see this bag in person to appreciate the color. I would love a blue bag though, and it’s one color i really don’t have in my handbag wardrobe. (fb)
