I can’t believe Balenciaga is loosing to Louis Vuitton :(

    • heyyeh

I love Balenciaga but the way I see it is that Louis Vuitton’s overall handbag range is far more appealing and broad. I will say that that is an unfair match up though, very contemporary vs classic/standard style?

  • kindled

haha I was very much in the majority on everything I voted on (although a couple like fendi/rebecca minkoff & gucci/alexander wang are ones I don’t really have a strong opinion on).

  • Kate

Where is Cloé? And is Miu Miu included in Prada? Who selected these brands?

PREDICTION : Hermes WILL BE THE WINNER!!! I just received my hand painted Birkin look at the video I made of it on Intstagram @ fortuneattie

  • Winn

    you forgot Mulberry!

    • eileen

      exactly what i was thinking!!

  • Silversun

Hehe, I particularly enjoy the thematic LV vs Bal match-up. Am v surprised at the Givenchy vs Celine results to date, I’d thought it would be fairly even but it’s not the case at the moment.

  • Silversun

Hmm. I just realised that you can vote twice by clicking on each entrant to each match up. Is this supposed to happen? And it means you see distorted results because it only makes sense when you combine the two for each match up.

    • http://www.purseblog.com/ Amanda Mull

It’s a technical quirk with the type of polling we used and how our developers set things up – the two polls will be added together to get the final winner for each matchup.

  • Katie

Hermes, Wang, Saint Laurent, PS, Celine, Fendi, Balenciaga, Prada

  • GMM

H, Celine, Gucci, Fendi, Chanel, LV, PS, BV

Some of these matchups are pretty one-sided – poor bags never stood a chance!

Surprised at the number of people picking Prada over BV though.

Would also have liked to see how Moynat, VBH, and Loewe stack up against some of these brands.

  • intan

  • http://breadbutterchampagne.blogspot.com/ breadbutterchampagne

I feel as though the bags should’ve been matched up differently, maybe on similar price ranges/demographics (i.e. Hermes vs. Celine, Coach vs. Rebecca Minkoff) Also, left vs. right should’ve been old school brands vs. emerging brands (Check out jezebels march madness series…) Anyway I’m pretty sure Hermes will win above all.

    • http://www.purseblog.com/ Amanda Mull

In traditional March Madness, teams are seeded unevenly; the highest-ranked team is matched with the lowest-ranked team for the first round, and so on. It didn’t seem entirely fair to do it that way, and it also didn’t seem entirely fair to match like with like – we’re still sorting feeling out the best way to structure something like this!

    • http://www.purseblog.com/ Megs Mahoney Dusil

Wanted to add to what Amanda said that this is our first time doing this, but we appreciate the suggestions and will definitely take them into consideration for the future! There will be plenty more brackets to come :)

    • http://www.purseblog.com/ Amanda Mull

Well, Florida/Albany turned out to be a better match than one might have thought.

(I went to Georgia, I couldn’t NOT say something about that.)

  • Patty

Relax people, it’s just for fun.

  • ElainePG

Super-clever, Megs & Vlad (I’m guessing it was you two). Great that you made it interactive, and that after I vote I can go back multiple times to check stats (without re-voting)… elegant design. Can’t wait to see who it comes down to in the Final Four! Shall we create mascots for our faves? The Prada Pandas?

    • http://www.purseblog.com/ Megs Mahoney Dusil

Really glad you like this Elaine! It was something Amanda brought to our attention last year and we weren’t able to make it happen in time, but it was a priority for this year!

      • ElainePG

In that case, kudos to Amanda, too! Oh, and I forwarded the bracket to The Hubster so he could vote too… he likes underdogs & has a soft spot for Rebecca Minkoff, LOL!

    Such fun!

  • Livo

Hermes, Gucci, Chanel, Proenza, Givenchy, Fendi, Balenciaga, Prada.

  • James

Crazy that what I the chosen am popular side…

  • annette

I don’t consider Alexander Wang a handbag brand… Apperal comes first to that design house, unlike a coach or LV. I would have included Kate Spade, as that brand started with handbags before growing to apparel.

  • TexasST

I love this! So fun for the handbag obsessed!!!

  • Rebecca Chan

I’m so confused, did my vote count?

    • Vlad Dusil

  • Paola

Chanel Chanel Chanel!!!!! And then Givenchy, Celine, Proenza. Love Hermes, But being realistic, it’s prices are too much.

    hermes chanel fendi prada…

  • weaslgrl

I’m shocked that Bottega Veneta got bumped in the first round (and by Prada — really?). I was looking forward to agonizing over an Hermes/BV final match-up. Oh well, maybe next time.

  • missarewa

Give me Gucci, Chanel, LV and Fendi all day every day!

  • bagbabe

I Have a feeling CHANEL will be the winner there is a bit more of a following, But I’m hoping Celine Beats it! :)

  • John

This was super fun, Megs and Amanda! I usually play this out in my head when I’m bored while waiting in a long line or I’m stuck in traffic. Helps pass time! :D

Maybe for the next one you can go bigger, have 64 “players” based on current popular handbags? :)

  • firstclasscoach

Coach won the votes by a landslide in their matchup, but Proenza Schouler advanced? Am I missing something?

  • firstclasscoach

    same with Givenchy?

  • Abbi

i think the final battle will be between LV and Hermes

  • http://www.instagram.com/thelilium The Lilium

    Where is Dior?????

  • hi

i think there’s a mistake… how did LV advance when Balenciaga clearly has more votes? I’ve just checked that LV has total votes of 1184, while Balenciaga has total votes of 1475.

    • hi

oops, my bad just calculated the votes and LV actually won

  • Cuckoo-Boo

I predict the final will be Chanel vs LV

  • Mya

This is soooooo much fun!!!!! Way to go PB!

  • fuchsiafury

And we’re left with the French luxury houses in the Final Four. How did the Italian houses all lose in the Regionals (quarterfinals)?

I was rooting for Prada. But, as the French would say, “tant pis” :)

  • Catherine

This went too quickly. Let’s do this agIn sometime.

  • Casey

I think for next time, it would be cool to match up bags instead of brands. For example, PS1 versus City. I’m sure it would come down to a Chanel flap or a Birkin so it would be interesting to not include those and see what else people like.

  • http://mmck.us Jery McKinney

LOVED THIS! Next year you guys should make it a full 32 brands. Although I wish there were more upsets. The results were too predictable.

  • Bipasha B

  • Allanah

    celine

  • Mya

Chanel is soooooo obviously gonna win, whoop whoop! But I have to say, I was shocked Balenciaga lost out to LV; at the early stages of that round it looked like LV was losing. I guess even with the price hike and LV’s seemingly new direction, the LV fans are still very loyal.
