Fendi Leather Front-Zip Hobo
Let’s get straight to the point: the Fendi Leather Front Zip Hobo is a classic, understated bag that also manages to subtly touch on current trends without actually being trendy. Further proof that I may have been right back in December when I postulated that the brand may be on a bit of a handbag upswing. And there’s nothing that I love more than possible proof that I was right about something.

This bag is so simplistically chic that it almost reminds me of Yves Saint Laurent. The design is unfettered by self-consciousness and unnecessary extras, giving it the kind of “everyday” look that so many people look for when choosing a new bag.

Despite the zipper accents, this isn’t a bag that’s going to look dated in a few seasons because the designers managed to reign themselves in and simply make an attractive, functional bag instead of focusing on loftier (and more questionable) goals. Some will surely call it bland, but not every bag has to be a feat of design innovation to be a success. Plus, the price is far below what Fendi normally charges for designs that aren’t nearly as wardrobe-friendly. Buy through Bergdorf Goodman for $1250.

It is a bit bland but at least its cheap bland. I like the lovely charcoal grey colour though.

A basic bag doesn’t have to be boring. This bag is boring.

I just don’t know about this bag. That is one of the ugliest Fendi bags i have ever seen. it does not scream Fendi, although that’s the point here. I don’t think Fendi has ever been an understating brand, but a loud and elaborate brand. I think this is a drab.

I dont think its the ugliest Fendi cuz seriously i think the designers try to outdo themselves each time with pure fug season after season.. i dont even go inside anymore.. it just makes me sad .. i still love my spy n b-fendi though but seriously, no more Fendi for me til the designers wake up n give us a bag worth paying for..

The bag isn’t that bad, but it isn’t that great either. It’s one of those take it or leave it bags. I certainly wouldnt pay that price for something so basic. It reminds me of something my mother would carry, and when thats the case you know its TOTALLY basic bordering on a yawn.

I’m not really a fan of Fendi. I really liked the look of the peek-a-boo handbags, but I have yet to be a Fendi client. This bag, although I like the shape, is not impressive with the zippers. It looks like the crotch of a pair of leather pants. I don’t want to think of crotches, busts or butts when looking at handbags. So this is definitely in the fugly category for me. Sorry.

I think this is a great bag – it reminds me a bit of Hermes’ Trim bag, but a bit edgier. I’d sworn to never ever buy another Fendi bag when my Spy fell apart, but this might be the exeption. I’m curious to know what leather it is though (looks like calfskin), because lambskin is out of the question for me. Overall thumbs up for Fendi!

not in love… a little too blah in the pic, but maybe it has more “ooh” appeal in person??

  • Leslie

Personally I think this bag is ugly and boring and looks similar to some cheapie bags I’ve seen at supermarkets. The style and texture of the leather looks like something that my grandma might like.

Wow…I am pretty surprised at the negative reactions that this bag is getting overall! I actually like it (surprising for me, since I just about never like Fendi bags), but I get the clear sense that this is a design that is more attractive experienced in person. And when I saw this bag I *immediately* thought of YSL’s recent zip hopo – however, in my opinion YSL does this look far better.

I’m with Empress — it looks like the fly on a pair of pants. I’m afraid of that zipper going down! What am I gonna see popping out?

  • Jane

I see a leather vest. If you were to unzip two breasts would pop out!!!

  • MAX

I like the zip actually. but no for $1000

  • Bru

I really really dont like this bag.. it looks like a bag you could get in a cheap department store.. there´s nothing special about it.. the leather and design are wayyy too blahh..
thats exactly why I dont wear Fendi!

Actually got this bag for X-Mas. At first, i felt the same way kinda “blah” but it grew on me. The leather is Calf skin and it’s super light weight. When the zipper unzips..reveals the fendi zucca print. I still prefer my Chanel Accordian but it does weigh in on the shoulders so this bag is not a bad substitute as an every day bag.

This is part of Fendi’s “Fashion Foward” selection. It is keeping with the current (albeit a trend that will always come into its own style again and again) “hardware” or “Embellishment / Ornamentation” of the solid zipper with FF cut outs.

The market for high end “LEATHER” designer handbags is tough. This season’s Unzipped by the House of Fendi is in and of itself a classic design; great fashion for the price point. With it’s clean simple lines and subtle FF logos on the inside used as linings it holds it’s family lineage with an air of understated sophistication.

The Sheepskin leather is very lightweight; yet plush and soft at the same time. It is water resistant up to a point; but far better then most other leathers out there in the market.

With two sizes; a “small/medium” and a “medium/X-large” I have to second the motion that this would make a great everyday designer handbag.

I think this bag looks kind of kinky. It’s turning me on.

  • Soobad

This bag is U. G. L. Y. It looks like a jacket that’s been sewed up as a purse. Bad excuse for a bag.
    OMG it’s Fendi.

  • Elyse

I agree with SooBad – this looks like fendi just stuck a zipper on a purse (fb)
