Isn’t this thing cute? I love box clutches, and I’m loving this Corto Moltedo Susan Star Clutch. They remind me of hard little lunch boxes back in the day, with around 5000X the chic factor. The structure is adorable, and with the tiny size, it would look killer hand-held. The hardware has a few points of interest that may be a bit controversial with classic bag lovers. I’ve been very impressed with the way Corto Moltedo has pushed the envelope on bag fashion. The Priscilla bag, which was featured here, and which has been ragged on elsewhere, has one of the freshest and most interesting shapes I’ve seen in a handbag of late. In a way, Corto Moltedo really makes sense as a rogue child of Bottega Veneta. Bottega is all class and Corto is all edge. But enough, let’s get back to Susan. The hardware, right. Those studs aren’t exactly typical of a little clutch, and neither are the signature C and star hanging from the bold short chain. The chain is very punk, and it tempers the sweet sunshine of the body. Which brings us to the brilliant yellow, which is the primary feature of this bag. According to the Grand Organization of Luxury Designers, yellow is in for spring. This canary yellow is superb, and because of the small size of the bag, not overwhelmingly sweet. This clutch would be great with a white day dress for lunch, or with a sequined black dress for night. It’s playful but the shape keeps it elegant. Last, have to give a little mention to that cute star with crystals. It’s such a slight detail if you consider the simplicity of the spaced-out crystals and the lack of color contrast, but it really finishes the clutch. Anyway, long rave, but if you want to have something with a little punch for your spring days and nights, grab this babe at Net-A-Porter for $922.
