At times, fashion can be difficult. It can be temperamental, confusing and subversive in ways both good and bad, and when you get into the upper echelons of the style world, not all good clothes are pretty. In fact, that’s probably one of the biggest misconceptions about the fashion industry from those on the outside looking in – fashion is often not about being traditionally pretty.

Sometimes, though, it is. Elie Saab is a reliable purveyor of the beautiful and sparkly, and he certainly didn’t fail to bring the glamour with his Fall/Winter 2010 Haute Couture collection. With a palette ranging from scarlet to baby blue, Saab explored the various and sundry ways to make a woman feel like a million bucks.

His goals may not be as high-brow (or pretentious, depending on how you look at it) as someone like Karl Lagerfeld, but he hit his mark admirably with everything from cocktail dresses to a stunning, couture-traditional wedding gown to end the show. I’d be amazed if every last one of these looks didn’t end up on a high-profile red carpet sometime in the next year.

Who do you think will wear them? One of the gold numbers in particular screams “Angelina Jolie” to me.

These are gorgeous. The strong-shouldered red dress and wedding gown are standout pieces for me.

All of these are beautiful. I especially like the red, short dress, and the one in the middle of the last full row.

Gorgeous! I didn’t see any in here that I thought were a miss. And I love his choice to keep the models fresh-faced and the hair simple – kept attention really focused on the beautiful designs and not distracted by a strange headpiece or anything. Just stunning…

Elie Saab makes pretty dresses. However, this is a couture show, and I expected more. I am sure that we are going to see alot of these dresses on the red carpet because they are safe.

Elie Saab hardly fails to impress. He truly knows the woman’s body. I loved all these Dresses. I see not only Angelina JOlie but also Mrs. Obama donning some of the beautiful gowns in the pics. I think the latter should wear Elie Saab.

Love all of them…..if only I can wear them for my wedding!!!

  • OhDarling!

Elie Saab thinks by just making gowns he can call it couture. This in fact is not, at all, what Haute Couture is. Only those that are of lower taste could considered it that. Meanwhile, in reality his shows and collections have nothing memorable or remarkable, like per say, a Chanel or Dior show will.

Love! I have loved him since the dress Halle Berry wore when she won her Oscar.
