After a few seasons, it's clear: Raf Simons is pretty good at this whole handbag thing, despite the fact that had limited experience with it before taking the reins at Dior, and certainly not on the broad level that such a brand requires. Dior's Fall 2014 handbags are his best yet, with easy, luxury-minimal riffs on the Lady Dior and Diorissimo shapes that include everything from tweaked structures to blurry-striped crocodile. The bags are bold, modern and totally gorgeous.
What struck me most, though, is that the collection's clutches are just as enticing as its day bags, which rarely happens at a brand as big as Dior. The simple envelope styles are accented with jeweled floral vines, which are just enough to make them feel like little pieces of hand-carried jewelry without detracting from the carefully executed minimalist shape. Everything going on here is totally excellent.
