Go behind the scenes for the making of a Chanel Classic Flap Bag

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve wanted to know how things work and fit together. I used to take apart and reassemble all my toys, day after day, with endless curiosity. Unfortunately, fashion doesn’t lend itself to the same kind of inquisitiveness unless you’ve got unlimited funds to buy yourself a new Chanel Flap Bag after you ruin your first one after it gets assembled. That’s where our friends at StyleRepublic come in – somehow, they pulled a behind-the-scenes tour of the Chanel Classic Flap manufacturing process, and they’ve got lots of gorgeous pictures to let us know exactly how the magic happens. We’ve taken you behind the scenes into the making of a Chanel bag before, but I thought perhaps the topic was worth revisiting with these beautiful pictures. What country are these bags made in? I remember reading something about some designer handbags being made in China with portions made in Italy or France. I would like to know where the pictures were taken.

  Most of Chanel items are made in Italy, France and Spain (best quality of the 3 countries).

  You are referring to Burberry; I purchased a bag and seen that the label said “Made in China” and returned it quickly!!

I would imagine — with a Chanel price tag of the thousands — that the bags are stitched together by hand. Would you say that it is mostly done by machine?

all done by machine but still so pricy…not worth it…unlike Hermes…very expensive but at least is all hand made..

  Well, as far as I know, it is not true that Hèrmes handbags are hand made… The only luxury brands that have all handmade items are Loewe and the Madras collection by PRADA.

its nice…and classic…But over priced… recent price increase was just too much…as if $500 USD is peanuts for them….

  I agree. The Jumbo is now $4,900 and the Maxi Jumbo… $5,300!!! They increased the price of the Timeless CC (what they called in this article “flap bags”, although as you all know, there are also other flap bags…) twice this fiscal year.
