We mentioned not long ago that monogram bags are making their inevitable swing back toward popularity thanks to fresh-feeling designs from Gucci and Louis Vuitton, and now it appears as though Givenchy wants in on some of that action as well. Over the holidays, both Kendall Jenner and Cate Blanchett showed up carrying Antigonas in a brand new logo jacquard, and this is the first time we’ve seen such a thing from the brand.
Since Givenchy’s Resort 2016 bags have been available to pre-order from multiple sites for quite some time, we’re guessing this fabric will be part of the Spring 2016 collection, which has yet to show up online but likely will soon, based on the timing of both of these celeb sightings. There’s no word on which other bags will be made in the logo fabric, but my suspicion is we’re going to see a lot of it; brands rarely distribute things to celebrities that they won’t be pushing significantly.
Whether or not shoppers will latch on to the look is up in the air; Gucci and Louis Vuitton have luck with their monograms in part because they’re long-time brand signatures for which many consumers have a soft spot even when monograms aren’t trendy. Introducing a logo fabric that doesn’t have that kind of background is trickier, but Givenchy has had significant success with prints in general over the past few seasons.
Take a look at both Kendall and Cate carrying their bags below, as well as close-ups of each bag; you can shop Givenchy’s current offering via Neiman Marcus.
I don’t hate it but prob won’t buy it either.
I agree with all of the above……HEINOUS
Adorable….but for a younger crowd.
I kind of like it but will probably stick to all leather versions, but I do love Givenchy!!!
Cate’s bag only works, because it is a tote. Kendall’s bag look to cheap and tacky. Way to go, Givenchy…. you managed to make your classiest bag look like garbage!
I think Cate’s bag works because she’s Cate Blanchett. These two bags both look cheap, Tisci is doing his best to make a classy brand like Givenchy look like a brand for tacky people from reality shows.
Giving me a very Marc By Marc Jacobs vibe.
It also reminds me of this Love Moschino bag

It’s the first thing I thought!
I thought it looked familiar.
I was just about to say that. It’s basically the Marc by Marc Dreamy Neoprene logo.
Looks a bit low end, it’s a fun print and my 25-yr old self would have loved it. My 36-yr old self isn’t very impressed…A
…And I don’t think the bags look any better with that print than without.
The world doesn’t need another logo fabric.
But if it did, it wouldn’t be this one.
I didn’t love this print in the men’s show, definitely don’t love it on the bags. Really doesn’t feel brand appropriate.
Kind of cartoonish.
This print for its monogram will be better.. I think…
I know this isn’t fair, but when I see all those stars on a shopper tote, it looks less like an expensive designer bag and more like a tarted-up Macy’s shopping bag.
Not loving it. The baby is cute.
it’s fine for the “Street” crowd I think. But to have it on an Antigona? I’m not sold on it yet. I still can’t picture Antigona’s silhouette and “Street” being in the same sentence.
Maybe they should go for another bag form.
No. That’s it. Just no.
Reminds me of a Guess handbag for some reason.
On photo#10, Kendall looks exactly like Bruce/Catelyn!
Looks like something from Kmart
Not a fan. Agree with a lot of the comments already made. No thanks Givenchy. Stick to your beautiful leather.
I hate it with the intensity of a thousand suns.
